From August to December, I had the incredible opportunity to be part of the Milo Climate Action Academy, a program by The Milo Space Science Institute and the Puerto Rico Science, Technology & Research Trust. This program trained me to use space-enabled scientific data to help Puerto Rico become more resilient to climate change a cause that I am deeply passionate about. As a team, we developed a project focused on Coastal Zone Management, specifically addressing Coastal Erosion and Infrastructure Rehabilitation in Humacao, Puerto Rico. Tackling this issue is vital for protecting our island's communities and ecosystems, and being part of this initiative has been a rewarding experience that aligns with my commitment to making a meaningful impact in the face of climate challenges. Let’s keep building solutions that bring science and technology together to create a better future!

?? Thrilling Journey Completed! ?? On December 7, I completed the MILO Climate Action Academy, a transformative program hosted by?The Milo Space Science Institute in collaboration with Puerto Rico Science, Technology & Research Trust. This experience has deepened my commitment to sustainability and innovation, and I’m incredibly grateful for the mentorship and teamwork that made it so rewarding. The academy explored focus areas such as ?? Forest Health & Restoration, ?? Agricultural Sustainability, ??? Urban Planning & Infrastructure Resilience, ?? Water Resource Management, and ?? Coastal Zone Management (my focus). As part of the Coastal Erosion subteam, I collaborated with?Kelyaris Rodríguez Torres, Sara M. Soto-Rivera, Glerisbeth Lorenzo, and Elix Hernandez to propose the San Juan Bay Estuary Shoreline Management Model, leveraging GIS tools to analyze data and guide sustainable, island-wide interventions. ?? I’m deeply thankful to Michael Fogg, Dann Garcia, Orlando Figueroa, Rafael K., Dave White, Sheri Klug Boonstra, Enrique Vivoni, Ph.D., P.E., Kamille Morales Lebrón, Andreica Maldonado, Adrian Santiago Tate, Ada Monzon, Grace M. Rendón Febles, and Jose Molina for their invaluable contributions. Special thanks to SMEs Wilford Schmidt and Arch. ??? Proud to have participated in the The Milo Space Science Institute Climate Action Academy, a collaborative effort with the?Puerto Rico Science, Technology & Research Trust! From August 9th to December 7th, 2024, I had the opportunity to dive into a hands-on learning experience where my team and I: ?? Developed a comprehensive?research proposal?aimed at tackling pressing environmental challenges. ?? Learned how to work with?APIs?to streamline data integration. ?? Utilized?GIS technology?and cutting-edge tools like?Planet Labs satellite software?to generate meaningful insights. The journey culminated in our final presentations on?Saturday, December 7th, showcasing our hard work and dedication to driving actionable change. This experience not only strengthened my technical skills but also deepened my commitment to using technology for the betterment of our planet. The intersection of law and space involves global governance, complex legal frameworks, and cutting-edge technological innovations. Zamara Rodríguez shares her journey from studying international relations and law to becoming the Program Manager for the Australian Youth Aerospace Association (AYAA) Astra Program and Executive Assistant at the Space Industry Association of Australia. Inspired by her love for space and a desire to make an impact, she applied for the AROSE Milo Mission Academy for Lunar Exploration, with a sponsored position from the iLAuNCH Trailblazer. “My career isn't just about program management; I also advocate for diversity and inclusion in the space sector.
