Last week, we had the privilege of sitting down with a group of dedicated social entrepreneurs from around the world as part of the U.S. Department of State's International Leadership Program! ?? ? This group traveled from 20 different countries – including Cuba, Egypt, Iraq, Netherlands, Portugal, Taiwan, Zimbabwe, and more – to connect with and learn from community-based nonprofits in the U.S.! During our time together, we got to share The Lift Garage's journey as a nonprofit organization, why we do the work that we do, and what we think it means to 'lift" up our community through social impact. ?? ?? ? Thank you to Social Enterprise - Minneapolis St Paul and Global Minnesota for recommending The Lift Garage for this program and giving us the opportunity to chat with these remarkable changemakers! ??

TIME FLIES And all of a sudden we have come to the end of our IVLP experience. After visiting Washington D.C. and Boston, we embarked on the - rather terrific - next half of the U.S. Department of State social entrepreneurship program. ?? Our New Orleans visit was all about taking care of each other. It was heartwarming and inspiring to get introduced to organizations such as Greater New Orleans, Inc. – GNO, Inc., unCommon Construction and Propeller, working to provide solutions to local entrepreneurial and environmental challenges. By empowering youth, students, BIPOC communities and women, they are truly making a positive change in their city. Having been able to get a small taste of this unique city has been enchanting. ?? Minneapolis taught us how to truly put people first, valuing social impact over profit, growth, and ego, to support people living in poverty. The personal journeys, perseverance, and decisiveness of the team at The Lift Garage was truly heartwarming and mindblowing to me. Great to see how Katie at Impact Hub Minneapolis - St. Paul truly takes a network mindset in everything she does in support of social impact. ? Going home full of ideas, with an enormous to do list and filled with gratitude for the friendships I have made and opportunities I have received. Big hugs to all! V?Minneapolis byly top setkání se dvěma organizacemi, které mají obrovsky dopad, ú?asnou firemní kulturu a obě jsou ?ízeny neskute?nymi ?enami. První je organizace Repowered, která recykluje e-waste. Vedle toho zaměstnává lidi po vykonu trestu, kte?í by jinak obtí?ně hledali zaměstnání. A to, jak je organizace ?ízena, jak jsou její hodnoty naprosto z?etelně ?ity v?praxi a jak skvělá a respektující je tam atmosféra, bylo velmi inspirativní. Druhou organizací je The Lift Garage. Pro nás obtí?něji pochopitelny koncept, proto?e máme fungující hromadnou dopravu, ale v?Minneapolis je auto pro ?ivot a d?stojnou práci zásadní. A oprava je velmi drahá. Lift Garage proto opravuje auta lidem s?nízkym p?íjmem za desetinu tr?ní ceny. To jim pokryje jen 15 % rozpo?tu, zbytek je fundraising. Chodí k?nim i lidé, kte?í ve svych autech bydlí. Pokud si Lift Garage musí auto nechat na opravu p?es noc nebo dvě, zaplatí majiteli noc v?hotelu. Heather Walch, která ?ídí Repowered, a Cathy Heying, která ?ídí The Lift Garage, jsou pro mě ztělesněním lídra, kterym bych chtěla byt. Inspirují svymi naprosto jasnymi hodnotami a svou v?elostí a zároveň odvahou a vytrvalostí. Dávají jasně na první místo lidi místo zisku a doká?í upozadit své ego pro co největ?í dopad.?Ké? by bylo na ?ídících pozicích víc takovych lidí.
