Dayer LeBaron and Jolene Stubbs were arrested for alleged human trafficking for labor, after arranging for a Mexican family to illegally enter the U.S. and work in their pine nut harvesting operation. Stubbs allegedly promised the family help with residency in exchange for labor but later extended their work period and threatened them when they wanted to leave. The situation was uncovered when one of the family’s sons was hospitalized, leading to law enforcement involvement. Both LeBaron and Stubbs are being held without bail on charges of human trafficking and kidnapping. We are updating the report on #WWE‘s former CEO, Vince McMahon. Mr. McMahon is faced with a series of allegations from employees and contracted fighters regarding alleged human trafficking and related charges. #Netflix recently released a documentary detailing the beginning of Mr. McMahon in the WWE leading up to the current day. Highly recommended watch. Updates: Janel Grant and Vince McMahon — Ms. Grant’s lawsuit against Mr. McMahon is on pause as investigations into other claims proceed. The lawsuit was filed in January. Mr. McMahon — Netflix released a documentary in September about every single interaction Mr. McMahon had with the WWE. Former employees, fighters, competitors have all spoken out. Whether it is positive or negative, a lot was said, even by Mr. McMahon himself. A few daunting notes to take from this documentary: He denied every single negative allegation thrown towards him. He denied involvement in tragedies and failed to take accountability for the impact the WWE had on their audience. Business is business with Mr. McMahon. The name ‘Mr. McMahon’ is just a commercial persona of Vince McMahon. He will never live life with regrets nor take accountability for any mishaps that happened under his regimen. The allegations against Mr. McMahon have shocked media but not us. The alleged tactics to keep Grant’s truth and others from becoming a public issue is actually common. #humantrafficking #liberationproject #endhumantrafficking #mrmcmahon #netflixmrmcmahon #antitrafficking

Signs of #Grooming Source: Destiny Rescue Listening: (The Sympathetic Friend) Traffickers know that desperation for a better life runs rampant in impoverished communities, especially among children. The exploiters carefully direct conversations toward difficulties in their targets’ lives, feeding that discontent and hopelessness, as they learn more personal information. The Love Interest: (Love of Your Life) After gaining their victims’ trust through listening and sympathizing, traffickers often have enough information to pose as an ideal partner. By gradually adjusting their fake personas and becoming everything their victim has expressed wants in a partner. They then foster the relationship to a point where they can convince the victim into an exploitative situation. The Dream Job: (An Offer Too Good To Be True) Traffickers commonly use false job offers to lure victims into their clutches. They simply place a fake job posting online or in paper form, generally from a neighboring location, and kidnap and/or entrap unsuspecting applicants who show interest. Groomers will approach victims (mainly children) using social media and outright deception. Online predators, in particular, have perfected this grooming method to increase their chances of success by pretending to represent a talent agency or apparel brand. They take time to compliment the child’s appearance, supporting and encouraging the content they produce. With the child feeling flattered, the trafficker will suggest to act as a brand ambassador or model for their fake company. Then entrap them in a 'legally binding' #predatorycontract or various other extreme methods of entrapment. The Liberation Project and Rescue Upstream are collaborating for a charity 90's night! The Liberation Project is not a political organization, and we are not endorsing any candidates. This post is to inform you on what the White House is doing to combat human trafficking. A quote from the Vice President of United States,?@kamalaharris, “human trafficking is a $150 billion global industry, exploiting 25 million people, many of whom are trafficked right here in the U.S. This crime is multifaceted and demands urgent action. Our National Action Plan focuses on prevention, protection, prosecution, and partnerships to combat trafficking and protect the most vulnerable—women, children, and minorities. We must all work together to end this heinous crime.” We serve to spread awareness and act as a force in the fight to end human trafficking. Such an interesting topic! What happens to victims legally when trying to get out of terrible situations can easily go unnoticed.
The Trafficking Survivors Relief Act (TSRA) would provide the first-ever pathway for criminalized survivors of human trafficking to clear their federal criminal records. Having a criminal record – even an arrest record without a conviction – is a significant barrier to gainful employment, finding safe housing, continuing education, and child custody. Here’s what we learned from the National Survivor Study: ?? 90% of survivors with a criminal record reported at least some or all was related to their trafficking experience. ?? 69% reported that their criminal record prevented them from getting or keeping a job. ?? 59% reported that their criminal record affected their ability to get good, safe housing. ?? 63% reported that their criminal record affected their ability to receive education, training, or a professional license. ?? 35% of those with a criminal record who also had children reported that their record affected their custody of their children. Passing this bill would make a historic step forward in protecting victims and survivors of trafficking at the federal level. The TSRA bill has been introduced in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, but we need your help to get it passed. Here are three ways YOU can encourage Congress to support victims and survivors of human trafficking: ? In-person meetings: This is the most effective and persuasive way to get your members of Congress to hear your opinions. You can call or email their offices to schedule an appointment with them in your home state. Find their contact information here: https://lnkd.in/grup5-2 ? Phone calls: Another great way to voice your support for the TSRA is by calling your members’ offices and asking them to pass the bill. Find a call script here: https://lnkd.in/ecqrF43M ? Letter writing: Send an email to your Representatives and Senators! You can fill out our Take Action form to send an email to your members of Congress. The form automatically identifies your members and provides you with a pre-written letter that you can edit before sending. https://lnkd.in/eFeWcevH Visit our Information Center to learn more about the TSRA, watch videos from survivors, and find out how you can help advocate for this important bill: https://lnkd.in/gAQNJmFN #HumanTrafficking #CriminalRecord #TraffickingSurvivorsReliefAct

On June 26th, a trafficker was sentenced to 311 months in prison for human trafficking crimes in the Federal District of New Jersey. The Human Trafficking Institute dedicated several weeks to providing crucial research and data that contributed to securing this lengthy sentence after trial. We commend Assistant U.S. Attorneys Bruce Keller and Joseph Minish, along with the entire United States Attorney's Office for New Jersey, for their steadfast commitment to combating human trafficking and protecting victims from exploitation.
