A new, innovative K-8 public school centered around student leadership
关于我们
The Leadership School exists to grow our students’ leadership capacity through earnest engagement in an academically rigorous, culturally relevant, and relationship-oriented environment. We will open Fall 2021 with kindergarten, first and second grade students, and grow to serve students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Our school will serve all students residing in the twenty-three (23) St. Louis County municipalities that make up the boundaries of the Normandy Schools Collaborative. The Leadership School couples a sense of belonging with a rigorous academic experience to lay the foundation for authentic student leadership. We envision a reality where our students lead transformational change for their communities and our world.

On October 1st, 2024, our students began a campaign to address food deserts in their community. With the support and commitment of our Second-Grade Math Teacher, Lauren Hinkson, our students have collected over 1600 cans. Ms. Hinkson will work with her Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri Troop 800 to transport the can goods to the Midwest BankCentre Page location and then to a local community center to support families in our footprint. #blueprint #community #bettertogether #foodsecurity

We are so proud of our kindergarteners and our kindergarten teachers/TAs. They have come so far in 6 weeks. 5 year olds have to learn how to “do school” before they can dive into literacy, math etc. Our littlest leaders impress us everyday with their growth. Our KG teachers work harder than any profession out there!

On Wednesdays our teachers come together for 2 hours as grade level teams at The Legacy Center for professional development and collaboration. The “behind the scenes” work that teachers do is so important. The Leadership School is building a model that values this work and gives all teachers the space to do this work.

We had a busy week connecting our Family Ambassador President to amazing connections in the community geared to support the whole child and their families. Thank you to Midwest BankCentre, Nico Krehmeyer, for an engaging lunch where Ms. Ross shared her why and learned about his passion for community. We are excited to engage our families with the resources available to them from their local bank.

Love, Empowerment, Authenticity, and Development are at the heart of everything done at The Leadership School. After completing a family tour for enrollment yesterday, our Family and Community Engagement Director inquired if the values and mission of TLS could be seen, heard, and felt as each classroom was entered. We hope you enjoy this quick sneak peek and also feel our values coming to life through the hard work and dedication of our 4th grade teacher, Ms. Phipps.

Last week, Ms. J started focusing on strengthening students' foundational skills using Heggerty. Our Reading Interventionist, Ms. Radford, is partnering with Mr. Watkins from Black Men Read to establish reading intervention services for our students. We are very excited about the potential this partnership holds for our students. Additionally, we plan to involve families and children in working with our school to emphasize the importance of cooperation and collaboration in closing academic gaps through our Family University program, where Black Men Read will explain why this is important.
