Last week, Lakeside's Isaac Abid joined a panel discussion on?Urban Redevelopment?at the 2024 Real Estate Symposium hosted by Columbia Business School to share our efforts to invest in and revitalize Downtown Oakland.
Last week, the Columbia Business School Real Estate Community convened at the school’s Manhattanville campus for the 2024 Columbia Real Estate Symposium; a full day of topical discussions led by academic and business leaders from across the sector.?The nearly 250 alumni and students in attendance spanning more than 40 graduation years, engaged in thoughtful dialogue, peer to peer exchange, and organized speed-networking opportunities, in between expertly led fireside chats and presentations on topics such as the State of the US Housing Market (Hugh Frater '85 and Stijn Van Nieuwerburgh), Finding Distressed Opportunities (Ted Martell '06 and David Aviram '06), Redeveloping Cities (Scott Shapiro '99, MaryAnne Gilmartin, Josh Taube, Isaac Abid '07) Capital Flows (Ines Leung '07, Peter Braffman, Margaret McKnight, Matt Johnson) as well as Alternative approaches to investing and finding global opportunities (Ryan Cotton and Raphael Sidelsky '99).?The conference drew participants from California, Texas, Georgia and Maryland, among other distant states, as well as alumnus from Israel, Canada, France, and the UAE.?Lastly, a Paul Milstein Center Distinguished Real Estate Partner Award was given to Professor Emeritus Christopher Mayer, in appreciation for his 25+ years of service.?It was a wonderful day full of insightful dialogue and curated connections.
