We refuse to accept more stories of children suffering—or even dying—in facilities when we have seen firsthand in our homes that they can be replaced with stories of children healing and finding families. #FosterCare #Foster #Adopt #Adoption

After 7 failed adoptions, Kimmie finally found her forever family! About 3 years ago, Kimmie arrived at House of Providence. Kimmie experienced 7 failed adoptions, one of which was particularly devastating. She initially used her energy to keep others away and came to us scared, guarded, angry, and lonely. During her time at HOP, Kimmie participated in therapy, received compassionate support from staff, and learned to open up. As Kimmie began to trust, she also began to process her past and worked hard to forgive those who hurt her. Instead of running, she pushed through. Last year, Kimmie met her forever family and was finally adopted! She’s now in a loving home right where she belongs. #FosterCare #Foster #Adopt #Adoption

Just because many of us don’t see firsthand the horrors of daily life for so many children and families doesn’t make it any less real. They don’t get to just look away from it like we so often do. It’s hard to look at something when you feel like there’s nothing you can do about it, but I’m asking you to step past your overwhelm and realize that there are places like House of Providence that are actually addressing the problem that overwhelms you. You're not being asked to step into the horrors these families face. But we all have a responsibility--and ability--to do something to alleviate the suffering of children in families right here in our own communities.
