Last week, Guthrie caregivers celebrated the grand opening of the new Wyoming County Healthcare Center, Inc. in Tunkhannock, where Guthrie partners with other organizations to offer a wide range of health services to the community. During the event, Dr. Chris Andres, Family Medicine Physician and Lead physician for Tunkhannock, spoke during the event, emphasizing his personal connection and commitment to the community, and expressed gratitude to the Ruark family, community leaders, and Guthrie Medical Group for their roles in revitalizing the facility.

The Guthrie Executive Leadership Team rolled up their sleeves to sort and pack 3,500 pounds of apples with the Food Bank of the Southern Tier! Local banks and credit unions squared off to kickball to raise money in the fight against cancer. The "Kick for a Cause" organizers presented a $4,000 check to the Guthrie Corning Cancer Center. The money raised came from tournament registration fees. We want to thank First Heritage Federal Credit Union, M&T Bank, Corning Credit Union, Community Bank, and, of course, our team of caregivers!

Violence in the workplace can happen to anyone, including our dedicated caregivers. Health care workers often end up in stressful situations, working to deliver care to someone in need, regardless of circumstance. We officially joined the Respect and Heal campaign, with members of local law enforcement and dozens of caregivers at our side. This initiative presents a united front to support frontline caregivers. Dr. Edmund Sabanegh, President and CEO, the Guthrie Clinic, said, "We are all caregivers because each of us plays a role in providing the health care our patients deserve. We're pleased to announce a $10,000 grant to the B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging, Inc. (AAA) to support its Meals on Wheels program as part of Guthrie's Community Benefit Grant Program, which funds projects based on Guthrie's Community Health Needs Assessment.
