I'm excited to announce that everything is in place to start orientation sessions for The Greater Raritan Workforce Development Board's new Opportunity Partnership Grant (OPG) Manufacturing Program. The GRWDB OPG Program is designed for dislocated workers and underemployed individuals who are interested in starting a new #manufacturingcareer. The program allows eligible residents of Hunterdon County NJ and Somerset County, NJ to get an OSHA-10 certificate in safety standards and receive a certification for Certified Manufacturing Associate in fundamental production know-how. The training is free (funded by a New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development grant) and will be done virtually in cohorts working with an instructor. The GRWDB's new part-time program coordinator Charlie Apt, who has a long history with manufacturing operations and running businesses, will begin conducting in-person/virtual orientation sessions with our training partner, NJMEP on Wednesday, April 2. Of course, individuals can talk with Charlie at any point to start the application process. Employers and young people in Hunterdon County NJ and Somerset County, NJ are invited to apply to take part in the?2025 Summer Youth Work Experience Program?sponsored by The Greater Raritan Workforce Development Board (GRWDB). This is the sixth consecutive year that the GRWDB is sponsoring the summer youth program with funding from the New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development (NJDOL). It is one of 10 funded NJDOL-programs around the state. The Greater Raritan SYWEP has served 227 youth in providing work experience with 109 employers since its inception. For this year’s program, up to 90 youth participants can work any 200-hour period between May 19 to October 15. Participants must be between the ages of 16 and 24 and can be in school or out of school. Those accepted into the program will work 180 hours with the employer and complete another 20 hours of online and in-person career-readiness training and peer coaching sessions directed by the GRWDB. The youth participant’s tax-free stipend will be $17.00 an hour, for a total of $3,400.00, if all 200 hours are completed. The application links are in the attached flyer. The event, presented by the New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development and The Greater Raritan Workforce Development Board (GRWDB), will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce Center for Business & Entrepreneurship, 119 Main St. Flemington. While registration is appreciated, those who pre-register may be considered for pre-scheduled on-site interviews being conducted by some of the participating employers.
