February has been an exciting month for The Fold Initiative. We had the privilege of collaborating with four unique talents: Feven, Elnata, Aklile, and Bereket. What we've done together this month is an encouraging step in the direction of something beautiful, and we're honored to witness your commitment to and support of the vision we've shared with you. To preface the follow-up to our January issue, which featured our very own Helina Sisay, we want to take a moment to pull back the curtain for readers and underline that Helina’s example is a crucial component of the blueprint for shaping our first phase of collaborations. With that said, we’re excited because this publication serves as confirmation to us that our proof of concept for a unique system of collaboration continues to take shape as a viable approach to creating meaningful value for everyone involved. We couldn’t be more happy with how the initiative has been embraced. ?? Thank you to the models for your willingness to tag along on this journey, and thank you to Social Addis for your continued support!

Along with the inaugural issue of our periodical publication, we thought it would be cool to break down our photos, and demonstrate our approach to making quality portfolio pieces accessible to our models. No fancy gimmicks. No crazy equipment. Just the time-tested fundamentals professionals keep on hand and use reflexively. It was also very helpful to see how accommodating the spaces available at Social Addis are—if you know how to use them. Skylights and tall windows. Natural keys and hair lights. The Fold is an opportunity to invest in a community, serving as a bridge connecting the skillsets and processes of creative professionals, and the aspirations of early-career models. One of our goals is to instill self-belief in the members of the community we’re building, along with providing multi-layered support and guidance. By offering both a system of collaboration and growing a platform that empowers them—our work is not just about producing visuals but about creating transformative experiences where participants are able to gain the confidence, insight, and skills needed to both envision a career as well as embody the necessary qualities to make it a reality. A key component of the support and collaboration needed to achieve our first few milestones in this phase of operations is Social Addis. The positivity and support our initiative and team was met with, from our first talks with Nitai Schendar up to what we’re presenting today is nothing short of awesome. We’re deeply appreciative, and we look forward to seeing what we can achieve together. By supporting the initiative, you bring life to the visions of many.
