What industry or community do I want to thrive in? ? What do my ideal clients care about? It’s best to pick a select few topics and focus your content around those consistently. “Keep my name out of your mouth…” Sorry, can’t do that. I’ll never stop sharing people’s names with others. There are many times each week for us to connect people in our network to opportunities. Whether it be: ? People in the same field to network with each other ? A job seeker to an opportunity ? A potential buyer to a product or service or fellow entrepreneur All of these are valuable connections that have the potential to dramatically impact lives. Every time I refer someone to another, it costs me $0. Literally nothing. But the effort does not go unnoticed. I call it relationship currency. It’s a deposit into the bank account of my relationship with that person. And the higher that balance raises, the higher the trust, the stronger the connection, and the higher the likelihood that that person will think of me in the future. The successful connections of others are how The Fairy Job Mom name came to be and it’s a practice that I embrace daily… So I challenge you: Get together your roster of the best of the best! Who do you know and trust to refer others to? Keep that list handy so that next time someone asks you “do you know anyone???” your answer will be yes! Or, if you aren’t the right fit for an opportunity, you can direct the person to someone you know who might just be the perfect person for them. A friendly reminder that if you know a jobseeker, it takes 10 seconds to share an opportunity. And that opportunity could very well be their next role! Story time Sunday - why mission driven work is life changing and how…. Being laid off is a very traumatic experience. I was laid off in March 2020 at the very beginning of Covid and I decided to document my unemployment journey on LinkedIn - I just knew it would lead me to my next role. Through this journey, I connected with the founders of Aspireship and fell in love with their mission of training and connecting non-traditional candidates to roles in B2B software sales (SaaS). It combined my two most favorite things: helping people get hired - and sales. When I saw they were hiring I raised my hand and due to my own sales background they asked me to build their employer partnerships program. Aka: build relationships and get companies to want to hire these amazing candidates who come from non-traditional backgrounds. Every day I reminded myself: ??If I don’t do my job, these people can’t get hired. And let me tell you, there’s no bigger motivation than working towards a goal or cause you feel passionately about. That passion showed. I built their partnerships program to over 150+ company partners, but through this process, I also built my own career in the B2B SaaS community, with company founders and sales leaders now knowing my name. I learned a TON about: ??Recruiting ??B2B sales ??SaaS ??Startups ??Sales Enablement and Training And ultimately this knowledge and my connections are how I got the name The Fairy Job Mom ??from some folks here on LinkedIn! Doing work that you absolutely love AND that makes a difference in the lives of others is a gift. One that I’m infinitely grateful for. Have you ever had a mission driven role? I just had a really interesting call with a potential The Fairy Job Mom client today and the person said "I know this isn't therapy but..." and this is the second person to say this to me in 2 days, so I want to address it: 1?? Your career journey can be emotional. We are all humans and have feelings. The most common in a job search: Stress, frustration, sadness, rejection, anxiety, exhaustion, etc. The next level of emotion comes from the impact that your search has on your family. Especially if you are the primary breadwinner. So multiply all of those emotions x2. And x3 if you add in supporting an entire family. 2?? If you are going to work with someone in a coaching capacity (The Compass Program is this in particular)... I would highly advise you to only work with someone you trust to let your guard down. While I am not a therapist, I also have been around the block a few times as it pertains to my own career and have been an entrepreneur for the last 2 years. I am also a great listener, and will be clear, kind, and honest with you about realistic expectations. 3?? One size doesn't fit all. I know that some career coaches, resume writers, are very programmatic and formula based and while I have best practices that I adhere to - I tailor all of my recommendations for where my clients are and where they want to go. Anyway - my consults have been booking up recently which is a sign to me that many folks are looking for movement and change in their careers and lives. If you need help, you know where to find me.
