As communities grow and thrive, schools must grow in kind to meet community education needs. When Litchfield, Illinois saw increasing enrollment in their schools, we conducted a Health/Life Safety assessment in conjunction with a feasibility study for their school district (Litchfield Community Unit School District 12). Phase 1 included a new Elementary School for second through fifth grades, designed by FGMA and completed in 2023. Phase Two of the plan involved an addition and renovation of the existing Colt Elementary School, renamed to Litchfield Early Childhood Center, to house Pre-Kindergarten through first grade. The District welcomed students and the community to a grand opening yesterday, just in time to kick off the new school year. Project Highlights: >> Six additional classrooms that meet ICC-500 storm shelter requirements >> Reconfigured administration area for an improved, secure entry >> New HVAC, fire protection, plumbing and electrical systems >> Flooring, lighting, roofing and window replacements >> The overall design is future-ready for solar panel implementation Congratulations to the District on their dedicated investment in their children’s education.
