Did somebody say RESILIENCE? Yes, it's one of our core values and the root characteristic displayed by Black Americans. On June 19, 1865, the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, were informed of their freedom—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. This day marks a pivotal moment in American history, celebrating the end of slavery. Juneteenth reminds us of the importance of freedom, equality, and justice. It's a time to reflect on history, celebrate the rich cultural heritage of African Americans, and commit to building a future where everyone is truly free and equal. Join TEG in honoring this day by educating ourselves, celebrating African American culture, and working towards a more inclusive and equitable society. Oh, and ALWAYS support black businesses (product and service-based)! #Juneteenth #FreedomDay #EndOfSlavery #Unity #CulturalHeritage

A Star is Born ?? We were truly swept away by the enchanting atmosphere of the Lost Love opening reception earlier this week. "Lost Love: A Journey of Resilience" is a breathtaking mixed-media exhibit, shedding light on the stories of seven remarkable young black women who tragically lost their spouses too soon. If you weren't there, you certainly missed out! The room was filled with palpable emotion, yet it wasn't the expected heaviness one might anticipate given the subject matter. Instead, it was a beautiful amalgamation of joy, love, community, and above all, resilience, that hung in the air, making it nearly impossible to succumb to sadness. Furthermore, the visionary behind it all, Elle Davis, MSW, along with her adept strategy team, approached the exhibit with the question: how can this experience enrich our community? And enrich it did. Attendees found solace in a dedicated space for healing, embraced the sense of unity, and relished the opportunity to intimately connect with the stories of each woman featured in the exhibit. Don't fret if you missed the opening – "Lost Love: A Journey of Resilience" continues to grace the walls of FLYPAPER Gallery until May 18, 2024, located at 10552 S. Western Ave in Chicago. The team also carved out activations for healing on three Thursdays between now and May 9, occurring 6:00-7:00 PM. Viewing hours are 7:00 - 9:00 PM: Grief support group - April 25, 2024 Write it out/Journaling - May 2, 2024 Floral Design - May 9, 2024 The closing reception will take place on Saturday, May 18, 2024, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. #ELLEvate ??
