In the face of mounting resistance to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, it’s easy to feel discouraged. But true change is a marathon, not a sprint. Now more than ever, DEI practitioners must embrace courage and clarity. Courage to confront uncomfortable truths revealed by data, and clarity in communication to dispel myths and align teams with common goals. Transparency and honesty are our strongest tools in these challenging times. Let’s continue to lead with purpose and conviction. The work we do today sets the foundation for a more inclusive tomorrow. #DEI #leadership #InclusiveLeadership #equity

AR helmets for players who are hearing impaired empower these athletes to fully participate and compete, breaking down barriers that have historically excluded them from certain sports. This innovation is a powerful example of how technology can support Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) initiatives. By ensuring that everyone has the tools they need to succeed, we create more inclusive and equitable environments. Let’s continue to champion technologies that promote accessibility and celebrate diversity in all its forms. Join the Inclusion Allies Coalition (IAC) in countering the attacks on our profession and our work by posting/reposting our weekly social media cards showing how and why Diversity Matters, Equity matters and Inclusion Matters. #InclusionInSports #EquityInSports #DiversityMatters #InclusiveInnovation

Almost 20 years ago, I accepted my first DEI role. While it was exciting, it was also very lonely and scary.?It forced me to dig deep and find my true north to remain not only resilient but confident and innovative. Throughout those early years, I made the discovery that DEI work was not a career, it was a calling. Since then, I’ve had the fortune of leading organizational transformations within educational institutions, non-profits, government agencies and corporate organizations. Despite this success, I always yearned for a community of like-minded professionals who could be my sounding board, where I could learn and grow. I wanted a mentor, a strategic partner, and a coach, but that didn’t exist, which is why I designed the Art & Science of DEI a 6-week program for professionals looking to launch or advance their career in DEI. The next cohort is launching on July 18th 2024! You can check out more information here: https://lnkd.in/g-vtCg59 If you're thinking of joining, don't miss out this opportunity! I've witnessed the signs of burnout in our community – the once vibrant DEI advocates growing weary, the confident experts beginning to doubt their methods. This isn't a lack of dedication; it's the quiet toll of burnout. As DEI professionals, we navigate challenging truths and bridge deep divides. Our work blurs the lines between our professional roles and personal identities, making us vulnerable to this pervasive issue. ?? How do we combat DEI burnout? ?? Create support networks: Connect with fellow DEI practitioners to share experiences and provide mutual support. A strong community can offer validation and understanding, easing feelings of isolation. ?? Set boundaries: Clearly define the lines between your professional and personal life. Take time to recharge and disconnect from work-related responsibilities. ?? Prioritize self-care: Incorporate self-care routines into your daily life. Whether it’s mindfulness practices, physical exercise, or hobbies, find activities that rejuvenate your spirit. ?? Seek professional help: Don't hesitate to seek support from mental health professionals. Therapy and counseling can provide tools to manage stress and emotional fatigue effectively. ?? Advocate for organizational change: Push for systemic changes within your organization that support DEI practitioners, such as mental health resources and reasonable workloads. By implementing these strategies, we can tackle DEI burnout head-on, ensuring that we remain effective and resilient in our mission for justice and equality. #DEIcommunity #supportnetwork #DEI
