NEW EPISODE: The Telepathy Tapes is a podcast that launched last fall, and quickly became a cultural phenomenon. By early January, it was the number one podcast in the country. Today, it’s still in the top ten. Its core thesis is quite provocative: there are non-verbal autistic young people who possess telepathic powers and are able to read the minds of their parents and teachers. In the latest episode of The Disagreement, we use The Telepathy Tapes podcast as a springboard to ask some big questions about science, skepticism, and the nature of truth with Zaid Jilani and Jeffrey Kripal. Forums for nuanced, respectful policy discussion can seem few and far between these days, so I really appreciate the platform Alex Grodd and the team at The Disagreement have designed to encourage productive dialogue. Glad to have the chance to talk about the Department of Education and why I believe we need it, and recommend checking out their other episodes too.
Should the U.S. Department of Education exist? The answer isn’t as black and white as Donald Trump or Democrats in congress make it out to be. So we reached out to experts on either side of the disagreement to get at the truth. Listen to Third Way’s Michelle Dimino and the Cato Institute’s Neal McCluskey disagree — in a productive and healthy way — about the future of the Department of Education.
Should the Department of Education be abolished?
