the story of how I started my own business at age 21 ? growing up, i always wanted to have my own business. as a kid, it started with a dream to open a bakery, followed by wanting to create a salon. as i got older, however, i got stumped on what I actually wanted to do. fast forward to 2023: influencing has populated the internet, which is something that is incredibly valuable and crucial to brands. as i continued to watch strategic creative influencer placements and brand partnerships take place, i knew it was time to put my creative mind to use and start something of my own. as a graphic design student, I always figured, anyone can design a sweat-set or t-shirt, but unless there is a passion and mission behind the company, it won’t resonate with an audience. summer 2023: I was in a very transitional period in my life. I was entering my senior year of college and had recently overcome some obstacles of my own. After traveling Europe and noticing the distinct disconnect between the accessories overseas compared to the United States, I knew that now, more than ever, was the time for me to start this project. It was time for me to put all of my energy into something that would be productive, something that could someday turn into something big, and follow a forever passion and dream of mine. january 2024: on january 12, 2024, collection 01 of theDirtyChic launched. a surreal day for more reasons than I could ever count. it was a day that showed me that anything is possible when you set your mind to it and showed me that hard work and determination truly does pay off. to anyone out there looking to start something of their own: i couldn’t advise you more to try it. you will learn more than anyone could ever teach you, you will experience the ups and downs, and you will truly see how many people in your life will be by your side to cheer you on. If I could have told myself one year ago that this idea would have come to fruition, I likely wouldn’t have believed you. I am looking forward to being on the forefront of the company’s growth and seeing where the entrepreneurial journey will take me. xo, Belle

Let's start by sharing some background on the founder, Belle Kornberg Belle Kornberg, CEO and founder, started theDirtyChic LLC. in July 2023. Belle grew up in Columbus, Ohio and recently graduated from Syracuse University, S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Having grown up in a city which is often recognized as a powerhouse for successful retailers, Belle was immersed in this world at a young age, and knew that she wanted to enter this industry herself someday. She has forever wanted to start a business of her of own but never quite knew what exactly she wanted to do, or how to even approach it. After visiting her friends on their semester abroad in Italy in March 2023, followed by Belle travelling around Europe herself throughout June 2023, she was inspired by a type of unique ornate jewelry in these European cities that she hadn’t ever seen in the United States. After recognizing a distinct, unique gap in the market, she got to work. She sought out suppliers, designed the pieces, and built the website herself, from scratch. theDirtyChic officially launched on January 12, 2024. theDirtyChic has already been picked up by numerous influencers and has big plans for the future.
