Food connects us—to each other, to our communities, and to the farmers who produce it! March is National Nutrition Month, and we want to remind you to take a moment to appreciate where your food comes from and the nutrients it provides from your local farmers. Here's why dairy is an essential part of that story: ? Milk typically travels from farm to store in less than 48 hours ? U.S. dairy contributes less than 2% of total greenhouse gas emissions ? Dairy foods provide high-quality protein, calcium, and essential vitamins Want to learn more? When the hurricanes hit in Florida and the Southeast this past Fall, it devasted not only families, neighborhoods, and communities but the entire infrastructure of the food chain – including the destruction of many emergency food banks and pantries. With all the food donations pouring in, food banks and pantries scrambled to find solutions for refrigerated infrastructure to safely store and distribute these donations. ? Knowing that without refrigeration, food banks and pantries could not accept donations of fresh foods – including nutritious dairy. This idea of providing refrigeration was simple – yet it would be outrageously impactful. ? Quickly in December, we rallied partners from all over the supply chain to donate almost (100) Coolers to support our local communities. We wanted to ensure that they would have access to fresh dairy, meats and produce. At Atosa USA, Inc., we offered a (50) cooler donation match for any coolers purchased in this emergency area. With this opportunity match, The Dairy Alliance team and United Dairy Industry of Michigan raised funding for 49 cooler donations. ? At Atosa USA, Inc., we would like to thank The Dairy Alliance team, United Dairy Industry of Michigan, Florida Dairy Farmers, Partners For Good, Burkett equipment, Appalachian Milk Cooperative, Southeast Milk Inc., Georgia Milk Producers,?Feeding the Carolina’s, THE SERC, Golden Harvest food bank, Manna Food Bank and Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC, Feeding Florida, Treasure Coast food bank, Harry Chapin Food bank, Feeding Northeast Florida Food bank, All Faiths Food Bank, Second Harvest Big Bend for this tremendous partnership. ? “These units will increase storage capacity, potentially serving as an agency’s first significant refrigeration unit. Each unit will enhance the operational efficiency of partner agencies, allowing them to store and distribute more substantial quantities of food. This improvement will provide greater access to our neighbors experiencing food insecurity, especially those needing dairy, meat, produce, and other essentials. Donating these coolers significantly supports the Food Bank’s mission: to transform lives by feeding our hungry neighbors today and building a healthy, hunger-free tomorrow “–?Jake Griffis Vice President, Golden Harvest Food Bank ? This month, we're celebrating Virginia's dairy industry! Here's how our Virginia dairy farmers are making a difference: 1. 68,000 dairy cows produced a whopping 170 million gallons of dairy milk in 2024. 2. 365 dairy farms, each averaging 186 cows, are the backbone of this industry. 3. The top counties producing dairy milk are Rockingham, Pittsylvania, and Augusta. 4. Cheese is Virginia's top dairy product, followed by everyone's favorite treat—ice cream! Dairy farming is a vital part of Virginia's economy, health, and culture. From farm to table, we're proud to support our hardworking dairy farmers. #realmilkstartshere #VirginiaDairy #DairyIndustry #TheDairyAlliance

Our team is proud to spotlight how dairy farmers are leading the charge in reducing waste, supporting cow nutrition, and strengthening local food production—all while cutting greenhouse gas emissions. Did you know? Cows enjoy whiskey… but not how you think! Byproducts like distillers' syrup, soybean meal, and citrus pulp are upcycled into balanced, nutrient-rich diets for cows. This innovative approach reduces waste headed to landfills and optimizes milk production for fresh, high-quality dairy, all while supporting a more sustainable future. Guided by trusted advisors like nutritionists, dairy farmers turn what was once considered waste into wholesome dairy milk that enriches our communities. Every glass of dairy milk tells a story of sustainability, innovation, and care. Not only for the planet, but for the cows and you! #DairySustainability #TheDairyAlliance #FromFarmToTable

What is lactose intolerance? Lactose intolerance is not a milk allergy—it simply means the digestive system has difficulty breaking down lactose, the sugar in milk. Many individuals with lactose intolerance can still enjoy cheeses, yogurts, and lactose-free real dairy milk. This option provides the same great taste and 13 essential nutrients as regular dairy milk, including high-quality protein, calcium, and vitamin D, without the discomfort of cramping and bloating. This shift in consumer preference offers a valuable opportunity to meet dietary needs while keeping dairy a key part of the nutrition conversation! #DairyNutrition #LactoseFree #DairyIndustry #TheDairyAlliance
