After a year of dilly dallying, meeting amazing new people, staying up way too late studying, and finding community in various organizations, I’m happy to call Duke University my home where I will be studying Mechanical engineering and Computer Science!
During the process of joining an organization here on campus (Cube) I was blessed to receive an opportunity to present at Duke Demo Day. Being that I was a huge Marvel junkie, I had to follow suit to one of the best fictional mechanical engineers ever, Tony Stark. Over my spring semester I was pushed and challenged by peers in Cube, as well as myself, to finish a fully functional Iron Man mask, with an overall goal to learn what the heck even an arduino was or how to properly solder. Additionally, with the help of the amazing people @boxandloop the exceptional and open source cad designs, and some CAD tweaks/edits, I was proud to present my Iron Man Mask at Duke Demo Day! but enough about that…
With the Iron Man Mask project I learned that I loved the process of combining Electrical Engineering concepts with 3D Mechanical Engineering design and finally wrapping it up with Computer Science skills. However, I feel like I can learn more and I personally want to find out the power of this intersection between these 3 majors and why they meet so gracefully in robotics! Now that I finished Summer Classes (I love linear algebra so much now) I have a bit of free time! So come with me as I build a hexapod robot that I will build from the ground up, learning about Python, Machine learning, Solid works, inverse/forward kinematics, and what the heck a raspberry pi is even (still think its a type of pie, but oh well).
Thank you so much for reading, and I hope you enjoy HEXATECH: An Open Engineering Journey (name needs a little work but it’ll get determined) ||get it|| ||I’m sorry|| sinθ.
