  • [JOB POSTING] Assistant Director, The Coelho Center for Disability Law, Policy and Innovation Founded in 2018 by The Honorable Anthony “Tony” Coelho, The Coelho Center for Disability Law, Policy, and Innovation (“The Coelho Center”) collaborates with the national and regional disability community to cultivate leadership and advocate for systemic approaches to advance the lives of people with disabilities. By convening advocates and scholarly experts from the disability community; leading capacity building activities that serve the disability community; and generating impactful advocacy and knowledge-building, The Coelho Center contributes to legal and social change for disabled people. The Coelho Center takes an intersectional approach to interacting systems of oppression (i.e., racism and ableism), promoting leadership by the multiply marginalized and prioritizing work not traditionally attended to by the Disability Rights Movement. Housed at Loyola Marymount University (LMU), The Coelho Center is both an internal and external facing institute, providing programming and development for the LMU community and the community at large. The Coelho Center’s foundational initiatives focus on educational justice, including identifying, training, and providing scholarships to disabled student leaders, and increasing the pathway of students with disabilities going to law school and the legal profession. Toward this end, the Assistant Director will work with students with disabilities (kindergarten through graduate school) and early professionals from across the nation and internationally. Reporting to the Director of The Coelho Center, the Assistant Director will oversee the administration and expansion of The Coelho Law Fellowship Program (CLFP), The Coelho Law Fellowship Alumni Program (AP), and additional Coelho Center programs, convenings, and reports. Duties will include: overseeing each annual CLFP cohort (50 students/year); organizing and facilitating CLFP events and seminars; expanding AP programs for CLFP graduates; supporting additional LMU- and community-focused Coelho Center convenings, reports, and events; and assisting the Director in the overall administration of the Center, including but not limited to the areas of fundraising, marketing, social media, and website development.
