We are passionate about being the help others battling cancer can turn to for help. Our day is centered around returning phone calls and emails from social workers at hospitals across the country who are striving to make a meaningful difference in the lives of their patients fighting cancer. When seeking help to prevent eviction, utility disconnect car repossession, copay or medication assistance and more many times the path leads to us. For almost 19 years our objective has been to bring about awareness of the financial challenges cancer patients face and mastermind creative ways to fundraise in support of our Dollars Allocated to Assist (DATA) Program. With the new year just beginning we have received 6 requests for financial assistance. We are always fundraising to meet needs because the financial burden of cancer doesn't stop for holidays nor weekends.

Our founder, Mary Jenkins, and our governing board brainstorm of ways for us to be self-sustaining. One of our ways is through our collaborative efforts with the hair and beauty industry. For the last 13 years our "Hairstyles and Beauty for Hope" Campaign has made it possible for us to forming new relationships with businesses and members of the industry. This Campaign has truly been a blessing for the people we serve. We are always looking to create new, unique ways to receive contributions and inform others about the sufferings of people in active treatment. Have you heard of and taken our $5 Alive Challenge? If not, text the word ALIVE to 707070 and click the link in message you received. Both these ways are creative; however, with the need for resources increasing we continue to seek new ways. We came across this video and felt it relevant to share with others who operate within the nonprofit space. Thank you Maritza "Shay" Nelson of MSN Law Offices for creating this. https://lnkd.in/gAkRzJ8M
