Jeanette's vision led her to found the City Institute, an organization dedicated to helping cities thrive by fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation among residents for where they live and work. This past week, our Founder and President Jeanette Pierce was the Keynote Speaker for the 2024 Community Engagement Summit presented by Advancing Macomb. Jeanette helps cities tell their stories, connecting locals and newcomers to their communities and fostering a sense of care. At the summit, Jeanette discussed the necessity of community engagement, offering examples and best practices for effective and impactful community interaction. Last week I had the opportunity to work alongside an incredible team to organize the Leadership Detroit Orientation. Leadership Detroit is a 9-month leadership program to bring positive change in the Detroit community with over 2,500 alumni. The 3-day orientation invited leaders to learn more about themselves and others while building critical leadership skills needed for the upcoming year. Special guests, including Mark Ostach and City Institute, gave the Leadership Detroit 45 class essential skills to succeed this year.
