The Center for Pursuit is honored to recently receive a $15,000 grant from the Texas Bar Foundation to expand and implement an innovative educational program to help educate individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (#IDD) about their fundamental rights and civic resonsibilities. "The Texas Bar Foundation's suport allows us to expand our mission of promoting the pursuit of choice, growth, and independence for people with IDD through education that champions inclusion and self-advacy." said Charles Njuguna, President and CEO of the Center for Pursuit. SUCCESS STORY!! After high school, Steven found himself at a crossroads, unsure of which path to take. He joined EPIC to dive into his interests and hone his skills. Over the past four months, Steven has explored a variety of job tasks in restaurants, construction, and offices, among others. He discovered a passion for rolling silverware and organizing, though anything involving numbers wasn't his cup of tea. With his incredible artistic flair, Steven impressed the instructors with his drawing skills, and together they even picked up some new ASL signs. Faustino turned to The Center for Pursuit for help in landing a job. Not long ago, he wrapped up his training for his new role at Whataburger. Thanks to the guidance of our employment specialist, he quickly mastered the art of preparing orders and keeping supplies stocked. With his team cheering him on every step of the way, Faustino's confidence skyrocketed. He wears his Whataburger uniform with pride as he contributes in the kitchen. Faustino thrives in their welcoming environment and has a great sense of accomplishment in being part of the food industry. This week, we had the pleasure of hosting TECHLink from the Houston Public Library for an exciting 3D printing workshop. They showcased the process of 3D printing, and our Pursuit Learning Academy participants got hands-on experience designing and crafting their own unique images.
