Did you know that one of the most powerful things you can do for someone is to notice them? Granted, many of us don’t like being the center of attention, but a lot of us also feel largely invisible to those around us. When’s the last time someone commented that you’ve been looking down lately or someone noticed that you’re clearly very excited about something? I hope it hasn’t been too long for you, but for people like me who live with depression, it can often seem like a very long time. https://lnkd.in/grrBMmvG

Many of us are feeling more and more separated by our beliefs and convictions.?So many people trying to understand how to feel more connected in a world that seems to value chaos and confrontation, anger and animosity. How did we get here? How did we become a country so very divided??How do we move from animosity to empathy? Moving from intolerance to agape (brotherly love), especially on a societal scale, takes time, effort, and empathy. But each step we take can have a ripple effect that encourages others to do the same. https://lnkd.in/e6_i6uM8

Liam Wheeler is coordinating this year's count for 11 counties in Central Illinois, including McLean. He noted that this marks the first year all counties within the Central Illinois Continuum of Care [CICoC] are participating. “We are going to walk the streets, and we are trying to find individuals who [are] struggling with homelessness, and asking them if they're willing to participate in sharing their demographic data,” said Wheeler, also the area’s CoC coordinator through the McLean County Center for Human Services [MCCHS], which leads the CICoC. https://lnkd.in/ghsGeNVS WGLT

As I write this the morning after the most recent school shooting, which took place in Madison, Wisconsin, I am deeply saddened by the fact that this is the 83rd mass shooting in the US in 2024. I have to wonder how much attention we will give this horrific act of violence. https://lnkd.in/gT83tNyG

#Recovery is not a one-size-fits-all process. It is deeply personal and must be tailored to each individual's unique needs and circumstances. While the basic elements of recovery are universal, the path to a truly meaningful and satisfying life is as distinctive as each person's journey.
