This imbalance is part of a larger care gap, where women disproportionately bear the physical, emotional, and financial burden of reproductive health. Studies reveal that women spend an average of 2.5 years of their lives pregnant, postpartum, or trying to conceive, compared to men, who experience minimal physical impacts from reproduction (Guttmacher Institute, 2020). But the care gap doesn’t stop there. Women are often left to navigate inadequate maternity leave, a lack of accessible childcare, and limited healthcare resources, all while managing professional and caregiving responsibilities.
