"You never know who you'll meet." Indulge me in a story about serendipity, generosity and core memories... If you know my husband, you know he's a musician. But not only is he a musician, he's a theatre-loving musician. The Beacon, The Cap....Forget big stadiums, these theatres are the venues my husband gushes over. I met Emily Schmalholz earlier this year after I spoke at a Connect event in NYC. I literally stumbled into a conversation with her while wandering around Connect's evening reception. Emily's energy is magnetic and I found our conversation super fun. (Fun fact: She has family ties to the original Bonnaroo.) And then I learned she is the Head of Special Events for the famed Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY. Hold the phone. The Cap? Remember what I said about my husband. What's a good wife to do in this moment?! I knew I had to put Ryan (and the Allman Bros tribute he's part of) on her radar. [[ You miss 100% of the shots you don't take, right?! ]] I promised her that "wife title" aside, they are a great band and would rock the house. She generously said she'd pass along their info. And she did. That serendipitous meeting set off some dominos that end at this picture. Last night, Ryan and The Mountain Jam Band played Garcia's at The Cap. (Front left at the mic - he's feeling it!) Before Garcia's, Emily gave the band a tour of the stage of The Capitol Theatre. A unique opportunity to say the least. BIG thanks to Emily for making me Wife of The Century! But seriously, this is a story about serendipity, connection, seeing win-wins and how powerful all of those things are.
