Cadency at Clemson University is a premier, student-led agency made up of creators from across majors, colleges, and mindsets. We are brand leaders, creative problem solvers, immediate contributors, and we are Gen Z. Just like our University aligns itself to the same beat, we believe that every brand has a cadence. That undercurrent of rhythm and truth that moves through different departments, divisions, and opinions to unite people with a common purpose. Cadency at Clemson University was built by students to recognize and enhance the heartbeat of brands through strategic brand communications for tomorrow’s consumers.

    This week in Cadency we want to focus on brainstorming. Within our agency we have our teams we work with, but when we need to we will come together for agency wide brainstorming. This allows us to talk through our ideas and get feedback from our peers. This helps us get over roadblocks and see things from a new perspective which is invaluable as creatives. It also allows us to keep up with other teams and where they are in their process. These brainstorms are just one of the tools we use to help develop our students as they ready themselves to join the professional world.

    With Cadency kicking off a new semester we wanted to start a series of informational posts to help explain what we do as part of Cadency. With our Ally team having just had their first meeting on Wednesday we decided that this week we’re going to talk about kick-off meetings. When clients come to us they will provide a brief which will give our students some necessary background information that will help them understand the client as well as the ask they will be trying to solve throughout the semester. These meetings allow for our teams to get to know their clients and ask any questions they may have about the brief as well as gives the client the opportunity to better explain what it is they are looking for. Hopefully, this helps our followers better understand what it means to be part of Cadency and we look forward to providing more information in the future.

    We are excited to begin the Spring 2025 semester of Cadency with new and returning brand partners. Our brand partners include? Ally, Whataburger, ESL FACEIT Group - EFG, HP, The Village and Tanger Outlets. We are looking forward to working with these brands to help bring their campaign briefs to life. Our students in brand consulting get real-world experiences including research, insights, big ideas, creative content, fully integrated campaigns and KPIs. And learning what it takes to build strong brand partnerships. Our Cadency team is ready to deliver on how we see things differently.?

    Last week our ESL FACEIT Group - EFG, The Village, and Whataburger teams did an amazing job presenting their work for the semester to the clients. As we continue to work with our clients and better understand their brands we aim to improve ourselves every step of the way. We are grateful for our clients who provide meaningful feedback to help our students improve every week. We also want to look forward as we near the end of the semester, and our teams get ready for their final presentations. All of our teams have been doing amazing work and we want to put our best work out there in our final presentations.

    Last month, our team traveled to Chicago to visit brands and agencies leading the charge in the advertising space. In just 39 hours, we visited six amazing partners who each offered a unique perspective to our students. Here's a recap from each stop: 1. The Kitchen North America: The in-house agency behind Kraft Heinz's brilliant marketing campaigns showcased how they unlock creativity and deliver breakthrough ideas every day. 2. Leo Burnett: Housed under the Publicis Groupe umbrella, Leo Burnett is one of the largest advertising agency networks in the world. They showed us what it's like to work with major corporate clients such as Dunkin' Donuts and Kellogg's. 3. Chicago Fire FC: With Chicago's Major League Soccer team, Cadency alum Max Knipstein showed us what working on video production in professional sports is like. He also spoke on how Cadency aided his journey into the sports industry! 4. AbelsonTaylor Group: AT's team gave us a glimpse into advertising campaigns in the healthcare space, showing how creativity comes to life in a highly regulated industry. 5. Highdive: Another Cadency alum, Delaney O’Tuel, gave us an inside look at how this mid-sized agency produces industry-leading work. We also explored their approach to creating Super Bowl ads, including a memorable State Farm spot featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger. 6. World of Whirlpool Studios: As our final stop and another in-house division, WoW Studios showcased what it takes to craft creative campaigns for their iconic portfolio of household brands, including Whirlpool, KitchenAid, and more. Needless to say, this trip was complete with rich knowledge and learning, and we couldn't be more grateful for our hosts. Give a look to our recap video below highlighting this trip!

    This case study from WARC on how Warner Music worked with an agency to prove that music can heal and be a force for good was incredible! The creative team used the Spotlight Process, meaning that they only had four days to answer the client ask before diving into the creative execution. Using an anecdote from the Creative Director, the team decided to use the power of music to aid speech therapy for children all over the world. The campaign ended up being very successful, reaching an audience of over 42.5 million.
