There are three main ways that we carry out our work: we partner, we convene and we grant. We deeply believe in the power of convening for collaborative problem solving and to strengthen relationships. Some of the greatest convening partners in any community are places and spaces of worship. We are thankful to have joined with Assemblymember Chantel Jackson, Spreading Love, Chaz Greene, Rock Greening Association and Grubhub for a holiday food giveaway at Salvation Baptist Church yesterday. In keeping with the “community” pillar of our work, we seek to uplift institutions that promote religious diversity throughout The Bronx. #Bronx #Bronxite #Community #CommunityFoundation #Thankful #Thanks #Thanksgiving

The Bronx Community Foundation is the first and only community foundation solely dedicated to the Bronx, New York City. Our goal is to build an equitable, inclusive, and just Bronx with a focus on being community-driven and working with place-based organizations to realize a resilient and prosperous Bronx. We use collective impact models and assessment methods with our partners, donors, and collaborators to meet the shared outcomes of increasing economic security, advancing inclusivity and sustainability, advocating for social, economic, environmental, and racial justice, increasing access to quality education, strengthening community resiliency and vitality, accelerating innovation, and directing resources to support generational change throughout The Bronx. The Bronx Community Foundation addresses the needs and leverages the opportunities in the Bronx by cultivating community leadership and support focusing on four essential pillars: Community, Health, Economic Security and Equity & Justice.

The Bronx Community Foundation believes that every #Bronxite deserves a safe, warm, and stable home. Housing justice is part of our “Community” pillar. Yesterday, we joined forces with State Senator Nathalia Fernandez, Councilmember Kristy Maramoto, Assemblymember Michael Benedetto and former Councilmember Marjorie Velasquez for a turkey giveaway at the Throggs Neck Community Center. As we continue to work with organizations who focus on providing pathways to affordable housing, we recognize that NYCHA housing is a main source of affordable housing in The Bronx and throughout New York City. Did you know? NYCHA is the largest public housing authority in North America. NYCHA housing is home to 1 in 17 New Yorkers, providing affordable housing to 528,105 authorized residents through public housing and Permanent Affordability Commitment Together (PACT) programs as well as Section 8 housing. In the Bronx, NYCHA housing consists of 74 developments, 41,931 apartments and 87,903 residents. #Community #Systems #Partnership #Bronx #Housing #AffordableHousing #Thankful

A major pillar of our work is Community. We believe that #Bronxites deserve support throughout their lifetime and access to resources that allow them to thrive. Yesterday, we joined Office of The Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gipson, Oswald Feliz, Ritchie Torres, George Alvarez and Spreading Love at the R.A.I.N. Mt Carmel Senior Center for a turkey giveaway. R.A.I.N's work was highlighted in the May 2024 report "Aging Well in the Bronx" created by The New York Academy of Medicine and Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gipson. R.A.I.N. embodies the World Health Organization's Age-Friendly framework of providing access to / partnerships with organizations focusing on: housing, social participation, respect & social inclusion, civic participation & employment, communication & information, community support & health services, outdoor spaces & buildings & transportation. Link to full report here: https://lnkd.in/eusRFf-W We're thankful for the work of extraordinary nonprofits that step up to serve our community and a embody a systems approach to addressing needs. #Bronx #Community #Thanks #Thanksgiving #AgingWell #AgeinPlace #Dignity #Respect

Food justice is part of our origin story and our commitment to this work for #Bronxites continues through strategic partnerships. The South Bronx has the highest rate of food insecurity in the City at 37 percent, compared with 16.6 for New York City as a whole. Yesterday, we gathered at Pugsley Preparatory Academy to distribute turkeys to the local community in partnership with Councilmember Rafael Salamanca, Bharati Foundation, MetroPlusHealth, Spreading Love, and Grubhub and learned about some great work in this space... Principal Jean Jeanty and Assistant Principal Mary Hallinan gave us a tour of their food pantry that includes produce, meat and nonperishable items. They have freezers that include halal and regularly processed meat and also provide vegetables often used in their community's dishes. No child leaves school hungry. They also have a clothing pantry where they support over 80 families biweekly. #culturalcompetency #dignity Bharati Sukul Kemraj and the Bharati Foundation connects communities throughout NYC and Westchester to food and resources, including large pop up events for the South Asian and Muslim communities. Her approach is similar to ours - looking at the systems that lack and have access to resources - and figuring out a way to bridge that gap. Food distribution may have brought us together yesterday, but we left with shared love - love of people and community. We're looking forward to continuing to highlighting our local heroes who are making a difference along the way during this season of thanks. #FoodJustice #Bronx #Systems #Thankful #Community

As Pride Month comes to a close, we celebrate the vibrant history and resilient spirit of Bronx Pride! Since 2011, Bronx Pride has been a beacon of visibility, acceptance, and unity for the LGBTQ community in our borough. Each year, our community comes together with parades, performances, and health fairs, creating a safe and joyful space for all. Bronx Pride is more than just a celebration—it's a movement. A movement born from the determination and activism of local leaders who have fought for equality, representation, and justice. From our youth programs to our transgender advocacy, the Bronx continues to be a powerful force for change and inclusion. Let’s continue to celebrate diversity and support one another, today and every day. ?#Pride2024 #BronxPride #LoveIsLove #EqualityForAll #Bronx #TheBronx #BronxStrong #BronxFoundation #BronxComunityFoundation?

This month, The Bronx Community Foundation, in partnership with NYC Council Member Rafael Salamanca, Jr., distributed 100 new Dell laptops to Bronx students at Renaissance Youth Center. These devices will help students in engineering and robotics classes bridge the digital divide and pursue their educational goals. We believe access to broadband and digital resources is a human right. By partnering with local organizations and community leaders, we are working toward digital inclusion in the Bronx. Empowering the next generation starts with ensuring every student has the tools they need to succeed! #DigitalInclusion #EducationForAll #BronxYouth #CommunityEmpowerment
