HAPPY NATIONAL BLACK TRAVEL DAY! This day is a celebration of the Black travel movement globally and all we’ve contributed to this space. Celebrated on November 11th each year, the day was chosen to commemorate the birthday of?#BarringtonIrving, the first and only Black person to fly solo around the world in 2007! This day was established by the Black Travel Summit (BTS) to honor the Black travel community, recognize the importance of Black culture in travel, and celebrate the impact of Black travelers. The day also serves as a reminder to support diversity, equity, and inclusion in the travel industry. Today the Black Travel Alliance is celebrating with a contest/giveaway that will give someone the chance to win tickets to the 2025 Black Travel Summit (passport required ?? ) and airfare for up to $1000. The ABC Travel Greenbook App is celebrating by releasing a list of newly owned and amplified Black owned Hotels like Hotel Sages in Bali, and Chateau Georgette in Cape Verde! There's nothing I love more than supporting this ecosystem and amplifying it so everyone else does too! Let's celebrate! It’s taken me a moment to gather my thoughts on this one, but I'm feeling all the feelings: pride, gratitude, and excitement!? The global launch of the LEGO Group?x Pharrell Williams collab, a project that reflects imagination, creativity and culture. Leading the first-of-its-kind campaign has been an amazing journey. It has redefined what’s possible and brought new audiences and energy to the brand. The campaign is centred around a product launch featuring Lego's widest range of customisable skin tones and a film, Pharrell’s biopic told in LEGO animation. Unforgettable. When the LEGO Group approached me, I knew this was an opportunity to do something different, push boundaries and create something meaningful with the brand. The chance to shape this campaign to connect with diverse audiences, to foster connection and cultural impact. A dream.? Like any first, it didn’t come without its challenges & lessons. However, made easier under the unwavering leadership of Alero Akuya & clear vision of Pharrell Williams. Mission accomplished. Chengdu, Shanghai, Paris, France, LA, NYC, Virginia Beach, London and Billund. Leading a project of this scale across multiple markets, stakeholders etc. couldn’t have been achieved without the openness & agility of the teams across the globe. Salute to the orchestra. Visit California partnered with the Black Travel Alliance to bring their Creators Weekend program to California. Creators Weekend is a multi-day interactive and creative mini-conference designed to boost attendees' knowledge and skills in content creation, including photography, creative writing, filming, editing, and overall content production. ?? https://lnkd.in/ghbs6rRd

The past 72 hours have been nothing short of eventful. Anita Moreau and I have had countless discussions about the Black Travel Summit , which was set to kick off today in Fort Lauderdale. Our leadership skills have been truly tested as we faced the daunting task of making tough decisions under pressure, considering the immense effort and passion that so many have invested in this event. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the weather, our commitment to our attendees and brand partners safety and sanity never wavered. The outpouring of support we've received ,every call, text, and social media message has meant the world to us. And to those senior leaders who answered all our calls, and gave us encouragement , we are incredibly grateful. As we work diligently to secure new dates for the Summit, we ask for your understanding during this time. Our goal is to provide you with updated information by the end of the week, ensuring that we deliver the amazing event we have planned, complete with fantastic programming, awards our community deserves, updated data on Black travelers, and the reveal of our exciting 2025 destination (trust us, it’s BIG)!
