Resilience is how we push back. It's how we move forward. It’s not just about enduring. It’s about standing firm when life gets tough. Women have been changing the game. They rewrite history, reclaim space, and refuse to be silenced. Today, we celebrate that strength. Dr. Robyne Hanley-Dafoe, shares wisdom in her book, Calm Within the Storm. She says, “The ultimate goal of everyday resiliency is to foster a deep and personal sense of being okay, no matter what.” This means you have what it takes to face any challenge. We don’t watch; we take action - for values, for equity, for justice, for stories that matter. Resilience is built on five pillars: 1. ????????????????????: Strong ties with others help us face challenges. We need support from friends and family. 2. ??????????????????????: Staying present helps us manage stress. It keeps us grounded during tough times. 3. ????????-????????: Taking care of our physical and mental health is vital. It fuels our strength to keep going. 4. ??????????????: Having a clear goal gives us direction. Diversity and inclusion are under threat. Black communities face a serious challenge. Corporate retreat from DEI is alarming. Black consumers have more than $1.8 trillion in purchasing power. This power drives change. But, that doesn't matter. Companies are stepping back from their commitments. This rollback hurts Black professionals and businesses. It limits opportunities and weakens communities. Key issues include ???????? ???? ?????? ??????????: ? Companies are cutting positions focused on diversity. ? This reduces support for Black employees. ???????????????? ?????????????????? ???? ??????????????????: ? Fewer contracts for Black-owned businesses. ? This limits economic growth in Black communities. ?????????????????? ?????????????????????? ?????? ??????????????????: ? Less funding for HBCUs and vital initiatives. ? This undermines educational and economic progress. The NAACP calls for action. We must be intentional with our spending. Supporting businesses that uphold their commitments is crucial. Breastfeeding. I don’t have children, but that doesn’t mean I can’t care about this issue. My work focuses on driving real change in equity and inclusion. Black women have always been at the center of breastfeeding history. Often, they have done so without recognition and support. → During slavery, they were forced to nurse white babies while being denied the chance to feed their own. This legacy still happens today. Breastfeeding disparities are not about personal choice. ? They stem from historical inequities. Black mothers confront systemic barriers. ? Workplace policies that do not support breastfeeding. ? Medical bias that dismisses their needs. ? Cultural stigma makes them feel isolated. When organizations cut DEI programs, they aren’t eliminating controversy. They are eliminating progress. Breastfeeding advocacy is a business issue. Imagine what could happen if companies took this responsibility seriously. What would it look like if more companies took their commitments seriously, not just when it's "cool"?
