We can't wait for this new expansion to open at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and be shared with Angelenos. Proud to be playing our small part in designing the new theatre with Frederick Fisher and Partners. https://lnkd.in/gEMU32n5 #naturalhistory #museum #losangeles #construction #history

A building should never be an organization’s vision or purpose. The building is but one tool of many in executing the vision. This core concept is something we hammer home at the beginning of every feasibility study with our client partners. Before we talk about where the venue’s going, audience demographics, or how can we get Hamilton to come here, we first address the “why”. Why does this building even need to exist? And this can be a challenging conversation to have when stakeholders are committed to their dream. This was the situation in Washougal, Washington, where our partners with the Columbia River Arts & Cultural Foundation desired to build a regional PAC in East Clark County. But after going through the investigative journey of the study, we found together that there was a better option more right-sized for them and their community. We couldn’t be prouder of this organization for conducting their due diligence, asking the hard questions of themselves, and having the courage to pivot in a new direction. We can’t wait to see how their future unfolds! ? Nothing like inspecting piers with your peers. ??????? It was a great day for a site walk of the new Colburn Center expansion. The TheatreDNA team and our friends at the Colburn School entered the excavation to review the progress on drilling and setting the piers. The McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. crew was hard at work. Once they broke ground, they haven’t let up since. Time to dig, dig, dig! ? Each commissioning has its own vibe depending on the venue that we’re in. It’s a beautiful, serene atmosphere inside this century-old church that’s been adapted into the new USC School of Dramatic Arts. Between checking hot outlets and setting up DMX universes, we wander the hallways, enjoying the antique woodwork and watching a kaleidoscope of colors dance on the walls from the stained glass windows—the first gobos! ?????????? ? With the opening of this summer season's production of “Little Shop of Horrors,” the PCPA - Pacific Conservatory Theatre celebrates its Golden Anniversary, fifty years of performing at Solvang Theatrefest. ???? The weekend was extra special because PCPA also turned sixty years young as an organization. To commemorate this milestone in the newly renovated amphitheater, PCPA alumni of actors, directors, designers, and production staff were invited to the opening weekend. At the alumni gathering were our founding partners, Michael Ferguson and Benton Delinger, as well as Delinger Senior! That's how many generations PCPA has reached. Congratulations to both organizations for providing performing arts entertainment to the Solvang community for over half a century! Take a bow! ???????? Have you ever gotten Jack Black’s infectious “Peaches, peaches, peaches, peaches, peaches” song from "The Super Mario Bros." movie stuck in your head? Yeah…us too. ?????? Well, you can partially thank the Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences, for which he and numerous other industry icons are alumni. Founded in 1971, the esteemed college preparatory school is currently building onto its great legacy with a new arts center. The Bezdek Center for the Performing Arts, designed by SPF:a, is set for completion by early 2026 and will feature a 650-seat auditorium and 100-person recital hall, in addition to several filmmaking, rehearsal and music instruction spaces. We can’t wait to see how this new facility will level up Crossroads’ already boss-level creative arts program! ?? ?? ?? ? “I can sum it up in one word: transparency. That’s the genesis of this: the museum opening itself to the neighborhood.” – Founder, Frederick Fisher and Partner, Nathan Prevendar The Los Angeles Times recently sat down with Frederick Fisher and Partners to discuss the transformative new expansion of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. It’s been a privilege to work alongside this incredible team on the 400-seat theatre portion of the expansion. The design created by Fisher & Partners and Studio-MLA will create an open-arms gesture to the community with its glass fa?ade, free gallery space, café, and landscaping that will connect Exposition Park. We can’t wait to see Angelinos using the space and saying hi to Gnatalie, the sauropod, for the first time! ???? #museum #theatre #NHLA #naturalhistory #losangeles #theatredesign #theatredna ? Happy birthday to the opening of the Museum at Facebook's MPK21 headquarters in Menlo Park, California! In 2018, Facebook unveiled its new headquarters expansion designed by Gehry Partners along with a 20,000-square-foot multipurpose assembly space known as the Museum. Configurable into multiple smaller spaces or as one large theatrical space accommodating 2,300 guests, the Museum serves Facebook’s needs to entertain and inform its guests and employees. The space is divisible into four smaller rooms, each fully outfitted with both presentation and broadcast capabilities. The facility also has a significant event production infrastructure, allowing it to elegantly accommodate live events, ranging from trade shows to concerts. The performance infrastructure includes a performance lighting power and control system, a distributed chain motor control system with load sensing and position feedback, and a Meyer Sound audio system. TheatreDNA provided full theatre planning, theatre design, and performance equipment design and specification services. -- Architect: Gehry Partners, LLP General Contractor: Level 10 Construction Theatre Design Consultant: TheatreDNA Photo Credit: Lightswitch?
