Calling a lawmaker’s office for the first time can feel scary. Here are some ways to make your first call easier: - Read from a script so you know exactly what you want to say. - If you don’t feel ready to talk to someone, call after hours and leave a voicemail. - Start by sending an email, then request a follow-up phone call. - Use The Arc US’s Take Action form to dial each of your lawmakers and get a helpful Medicaid script. https://lnkd.in/eKDJjmKU

Happy Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month! Ever since President Reagan issued the first proclamation in 1987 dedicating March to the recognition of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), we have used this month to celebrate the contributions people with IDD make to their communities, their accomplishments. We also celebrate the great strides our society has made in advancing the rights of people with IDD and to the ongoing struggle to ensure these rights in the future. The Arc Oregon is proud to stand beside self-advocates in their ongoing fight for respect, dignity, equality, safety, and security. #TheArcOregon #Oregon #DisabilityAdvocate #OnlineCommunity #IDD #DisabilityRights #DisabilityInclusion #Advocacy #GrassRoots #CommunityImpact #JoinUs #JoinOurFight #AdvocacyInAction

For people with disabilities, Medicaid is more than a healthcare program. Medicaid funds early intervention programs for young children; in-school care supports; long-term supports and services that help with daily living; home and community-based services; and job supports.
