Today, we’re excited to announce that we have raised $69 million in our Series B funding round led by Avfuel, a leading global supplier of aviation fuel and services. The round was also supported by Lowercarbon Capital, IQT (In-Q-Tel), Alaska Airlines, Connecticut Innovations, Duncan Aviation, Jet Support Services, Inc. (JSSI), and the owners of Sheltair, among others. Existing investors Carbon Direct Capital, JetBlue Ventures and Toyota Ventures also participated in the financing. With this raise, we will further accelerate the development of our proprietary AIRMADE? Technology to meet the increasing demand for clean fuels in both commercial and government sectors. This will include massive advancements toward large-scale production of our fully formulated AIRMADE? SAF, a CO2-derived sustainable aviation fuel. We’re looking forward to continuing our journey of paving the way to global energy security by transforming CO2 into a valuable resource. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eby9x4Z5

Turning the carbon problem into the carbon solution.
关于我们
At AIR COMPANY we are paving a pathway to global decarbonization by transforming CO? into endless resources via industrial scale applications. Working with nature, rather than against it, our proprietary AIRMADE? Technology mimics photosynthesis to transform carbon dioxide and water via renewable energy into carbon-negative chemicals and fuels. We have commercial partnerships with airlines including JetBlue and Virgin Atlantic, amongst others, and have been awarded multiple government contracts from NASA and the United States Department of Defense. AIR COMPANY has received industry recognition through awards such as Time Best Inventions, Fast Company World Changing Ideas and the XPRIZE for Carbon Removal. We are proudly headquartered in New York City and co-founded by Gregory Constantine (CEO) and Dr. Stafford Sheehan (CTO). Our team spans a diverse group of world-leading experts in chemistry, engineering and technological development and deployment. AIR COMPANY is backed by capital partners aligned with the company’s mission to boldly transform industry including the US Department of Defense, NASA, Toyota Ventures, JetBlue Ventures and Carbon Direct.

Tune into Episode 02 of "Clearing the Air"!
Chief Executive Officer at Air Company | Inc. Best in Business | Forbes 30 under 30 | TIME Invention of the Year | Fast Co. World Changing Idea
In the second episode of “Clearing the Air,” we touch on details behind the thinking of using a consumer mindset to setup a way to have an industry-wide impact. AIR COMPANY's first products gave consumers a glimpse into what’s possible when you rethink how things are made. However in the background, they served a double duty of helping to fund the R&D of our technology as we advanced it to create fuels and beyond. Welcome to the journey.

This summer, we invited The New Yorker reporter Adam Iscoe to join us on a road trip upstate to West Point, New York, where we demonstrated our AIRMADE? Fuel in a Polaris Ranger. Before hitting the road, we gave Adam a tour of our two Brooklyn facilities. At the first one, we tasted some AIR Vodka (the product that started it all for us) while Gregory Constantine gave him the backstory and history of AIR COMPANY. While at the second facility, we watched as a batch of our AIRMADE? Fuel was created. From there, the day became more and more interesting. To achieve net zero by 2050, global industries have to reevaluate their supply chain and its carbon intensity. Aviation contributes approximately 2% of global carbon emissions, a number that seems small but is significant given that this sector is incredibly difficult to decarbonize. Without any changes, the industry’s share is expected to grow over time as other industries decarbonize and demand for air travel accelerates. The majority of these emissions stem from the combustion of conventional, crude oil-derived jet fuel, which requires changes to how we power aircraft to reduce the industry’s carbon footprint. SAF, hydrogen and aircraft electrification are the three pathways typically considered for reducing GHG emissions from aviation. Each has its own benefits, and while all are viable solutions, each faces challenges. We’ve broken down each alternative, ranking them across five key criteria based on the current state of technology development: GHG reductions, density and weight, supply chain logistics, price parity with jet fuel and flight duration. Did you know that SAF has the exact same chemical properties as conventional jet fuel? The real difference between the two, and why we need SAF to decarbonize aviation, lies in the feedstocks that are used and the nature of CO2 that is released once fuel is combusted. When SAF is used in an airplane, the CO2 that is released into the atmosphere comes from renewable sources used in the fuel production such as biomass or recycled biogenic CO2, meaning that new CO2 is not added to the atmosphere. As more SAF is used, this will ultimately lead to net GHG emissions reductions for the aviation sector. Allow our Director of Regulatory and Quality in Aviation, Mark Rumizen, to explain further with this excerpt from his Climate Week NYC talk: "Petroleum-derived fuel—crude oil is taken from the ground. It goes to a refinery, it's converted into jet fuel, and that jet fuel is loaded onto an airplane. The airplane combusts the fuel, and out the back of the engines comes CO2...Now, let's compare that with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Sustainable aviation fuel is made from renewable or sustainable feedstocks instead of food, oil, or petroleum... "The one thing to remember is that any SAF that's uplifted onto an airplane is exactly the same fuel chemically and even at the molecular level as jet fuel made from petroleum... "A lot of people think it's something different—like biodiesel is different from diesel, but it isn't; it's the same fuel. So have no concerns [because] by the time it gets uplifted onto your airplane that you're flying on, have no fear it [will] be exactly the same fuel, so it's going to be safe."
