The Alliance for Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare (AAIH) is pleased to introduce our #StudentSpotlight featuring Abraham Obianke, a 4th year medical student from Ambrose Alli University in Nigeria and a registered member of The Alliance for Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare (AAIH). Abraham Obianke recently collaborated with his colleagues on a research work, titled "Diagnostic accuracy of ECG smart chest patches versus PPG smartwatches for atrial fibrillation detection: a systematic review and meta-analysis", and it has been officially published in the reputable BMC Cardiovascular Disorders (Springer Nature)! As a medical student, during his clinical rotations in Cardiology, he witnessed how challenging it was to detect atrial fibrillation early, coupled with the shocking reality that heart disease remains the world’s leading cause of death claiming over 17.9 million lives each year according to the World Health Organization (WHO). This fueled his interest to contribute to research aimed at improving early heart risk detection for patients globally. This study investigates how wearable devices, such as smart chest patches and smartwatches, perform in detecting atrial fibrillation. He hopes that their findings in this work, makes it easier for people and healthcare providers to catch atrial fibrillation early, manage heart health better, and ultimately reduce the burden of heart disease worldwide; in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3) of good health and wellbeing for everyone at all ages. Read more about this study by visiting: https://lnkd.in/eueJMc-6 The AAIH is thrilled to have student members like Abraham, who is making remarkable strides in the field of AI!
