Earlier this month the EU released the European Union Artificial Intelligence Act (The Act). #AAIHmembers Paul Howard, PhD, Senior Director of Amicus Therapeutics, Elaine H., Executive Director of the The Alliance for Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare (AAIH), Mustaqhusain Kazi Global Head of Informatics Strategy and Digital Innovation at Roche, Rafael Rosengarten Co-Founder and CEO of Genialis and James Zanewicz, JD, LLM, RTTP, Chief Business Officer at Tulane University School of Medicine, authored a response of behalf of #AAIH to the provisional agreement. Friday means one thing - time for our #FeatureFriday spotlight! This week we have the pleasure of featuring Emily Lewis, MS, CPDHTS, CCRP from UCB! Emily has been a lead contributor to clinical decision support systems using machine learning which can lead to faster treatment times for patients. She fosters cross-industry collaboration with healthcare institutions, startups, and the like for advancing healthcare AI solutions and ensures the compliance of healthcare AI tools with applicable regulations. In generative AI, she is currently working with clinical collaborators to better understand how the integration of LLMs into the electronic health record can reduce clinical workloads and improve patient care coordination and experience. She has created frameworks and best practices for ensuring AI interpretability and transparency and is advancing the standards for the continuous monitoring and post-market surveillance of AI tools across clinical settings. Emily has demonstrated leadership in driving corporate AI strategy and data governance frameworks, developing educational programs designed to improve AI literacy, and established thought leadership with speaking engagements, publications, and active participation in collaborative efforts like the AAIH.
