I've been waiting to share... Now it's time. ?? My workshop has been selected for SXSW 2025! ?? And I am SO excited! It's been weeks of waiting to make sure all the details were ironed out. But patience is a part of the game. ?? So now I'm absolutely stoked to announce that my workshop "Networks of Scale: How to Grow and Maintain Relationships" will appear at South by Southwest in 2025. ?? He was generous enough to introduce me to Tim Luft and Matthew Borthwick, a couple other great people to know in the UK ecosystem. ???? And I was pleased I could make an intro between Yiannis and my close friend Antoine Woods. ?? The best networkers don't merely focus on themselves. They look around for ways to improve their cities & ecosystems. That relationship cultivation is what can make you magnetic! ?? These were the people who were EARLY to my #SXSW workshop back in Texas. ?? The room fully filled by the start! ?? I'm staggered (and so immensely humbled) that so many people came out & expressed interest. We had such a killer group of attendees who were clearly eager to learn how to supercharge their networking techniques. ?? As always, thank you to Annie Powers, Audrey Ullman, PMP, Hugh Forrest, and the rest of the SXSW team for all the work they do to coordinate these sessions. ?? (And also a special thanks to the A/V team members who helped me through some tech glitches! These people so often remain in the background, but please show them gratitude!) Going from a sold out SXSW workshop session to hosting (another!) full-capacity LinkedIn Local ATL event last week has made March a very busy month indeed. But it's been a good one. ?? Building relationships that withstand the test of time. ?? Was so awesome to see my friend Kerry Flynn at SXSW a few weeks ago! ?? We haven't seen each other irl since about 2017... Crazy how time flies. I've known Kerry for about ten years now -- since we bumped into each other on Tech Twitter while she was writing for Mashable. Now she's slaying it at Axios. And in that time we've come to respect & support each other as peers. ?? Which is why is was so good to be able to catch a couple of her sessions at #SXSW! This is the central tenet of The Zero to One Networker: ?? Build access to amazing people through consistency, humility, & value creation. Glad I was able to hear a chunk of her talk with Anders Rostad, Aileen Del Cid, & Dion Giannoukos. ?? And also enjoyed her chat with Kathryn Lundstrom & Mary Cirincione at the #UKHouse. ???? Maintaining access to veteran reporters like Kerry is about showing up as a human. Don't just pitch these people a story on your next launch... Engage with & support the other parts of the ecosystem where they exist. Had so much fun at the J.P. Morgan event the other night I only took on pic! ?? But Allyson Eman and I always have to get our selfie. ?? Great way to cap off a busy night. First, our opening LinkedIn Local ATL event of 2025 was a major success. ?? And then I got to finish thr night seeing so many of my other friends. Time & patience. Time & patience. ?? How many times did I harp on this during my #SXSW workshop?? ???? (Spoiler: A LOT!!) But there's a reason for it! Yiannis Maos MBE and I met last year, at SXSW 2024. ?? And while we talked about doing something later that year, life intervened. It happens -- you gotta roll with it. Even when you don't have all the info, give people the benefit of the doubt. ?? Turns out I was able to meet up with Yiannis at SXSW again this year at #UKHouse. ???? (They had some awesome events going on there, btw!) He was there with some of his TechWM team to share about the cool stuff going on in that area of the UK. ?? We had a great catch-up convo. Turns out there were some personal things that cropped up -- just as I figured. Now we have some cool ideas percolating for later this year. ?? Great networkers play the long game. Don't negotiate yourself out of a great relationship because you're impatient! ?? You don't know what's going on at the other end of that email chain. Give people the grace of handling life as it comes. THAT is how you maintain long-term relationships. ?? (Also seems appropriate to be rocking my Venture Atlanta Conference shirt in this pic. ??) ?? Part of network-building is showing up for others. ?? That's why I was humbled to be invited to J.P. Morgan's female founders event earlier this month in Austin for #SXSW. ?? I loved seeing the turnout even before the conference really got going through next day. And this was a great way to gear up for my workshop on relationship-building & value creation! ?? This is such a core tenet of The Zero to One Networker: ?? Be a supportive voice in the room when you're not the protagonist of the narrative. Super enjoyed meeting Komal Patel, Elisabeth Bykoff, and Ashley Swirsky Chavarría, among others. (Turns out Ashley and I both know Brittany Nehmen -- small world! ????) The amount of talent and success in that room was palpable.
