Last week, AI tech startup Boardy sent what could only be described as an inappropriate email to its women customers. The company's founders thought it would be hilarious to send an email a la Donald Trump-style in commemoration of his inauguration. The email was filled with physical observations of the women who received it. To say it fell flat would be an understatement. Using appearance-based marketing strategies is risky. Any time you comment on a customer's physical appearance it can backfire swiftly and severely.
