HR has long used age and generation labels to analyze the workforce, but outdated practices like ageism persist. Alarmingly, 76% of employees feel excluded from jobs due to age biases. In a recent report worked on by advisory board member Ivonne Vargas Hernandez called “Team Talent: Working with Four Generations,” it reveals misperceptions about younger and older workers. As Olympic fever builds for the summer games, our latest survey conducted at the UKG Workforce Institute reveals that millions of U.S. workers plan to “call in sick” to cheer on their favorite athletes. Over 7.6 million employed Americans plan to play hooky, while more than 27.5 million plan to miss at least some work to watch the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, which runs from July 26 to August 11.
