Meet Melanie ?? After facing homelessness for three long years, Melanie is starting a new chapter. On February 21st, she moved into Transitional Housing, and with it, she’s found new hope. What keeps her going? The love and support of Markeita, who’s like a mother to her, and Khaliah, who inspires her every day. After a year of being clean, Melanie is now focusing on getting a job and finding a permanent home. What she loves most about The Women's Center is the connection with other women who understand her journey. She’s not just growing, she’s doing it with a community that lifts her up. Melanie is excited for what’s to come, knowing she’s never alone in this fight. ?? Keep going Melanie, we are so proud of your journey, and we believe in the incredible things ahead for you! ?? #Journey #Stronger #Together #Love #TheWomensCenter #EndHomelessness

?? Celebrating Women’s History Month: Meet Joelyn Harrington ?? As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on Joelyn Harrington, a remarkable member of our Board. She is a retired commercial banker who has served on boards and volunteered for not for profits in Raleigh since she moved here 22 years ago. Her top two passions for serving her community are addressing hunger and homelessness. She was asked by one of the pastors at her church to consider a board position at the Women's Center and she glad did! She have witnessed the plight of homeless hungry people for years. Providing a safe place for homeless women to be sheltered and fed during the day does not exist outside of The Women's Center. We fill a HUGE need as reflected in the exponential growth in our numbers. In addition to food, we provide health, wellness and respite care and a safe, caring and supportive environment for the women who pass through our doors and we help them to find a path to end their homelessness. She is honored to be a part of this mission! Thanks to Joelyn's leadership and dedication, The Women’s Center has been able to meet an ever-growing need in our community. She’s honored to be part of a mission that brings hope to so many. Join us in celebrating Joelyn and all the women who are making a difference in our world! ?? #WomensHistoryMonth #CommunityImpact #InspiringWomen #HomelessnessAwareness #SupportLocal #TheWomensCenter #Women #March

Meet Tracey?? After 8 years of experiencing homelessness, she moved into Safe Haven on February 18th. What keeps her going is staying connected with her grandkids and mom, which pushes her forward every day. Tracey is focused on getting her own place and being able to give back to those who have supported her along the way. She always reminds herself, 'Someone is worse off than I am.' She keeps in mind the quote by Eleanor Roosevelt , "Yesterday is history, tomorrow a mystery, and today is a gift that’s why it’s called a present," keeps her grounded and motivated. Tracey is grateful for The Women’s Center, which has given her the healing space, community, and structure she needs. We're so inspired by her resilience and determination! ?? #Inspiration #Hope #Resilience #Community #Determination #Homelessness #Women
