Our mission is to ignite an enduring passion for nature that inspires action to ensure a thriving natural world.
关于我们
The Wild Center is located in the heart of the Adirondacks in upstate New York. The Adirondacks are unique in the world. Surrounded by people, they house great expanses of nature interspersed with small towns and communities. They can be an example for a future where man and the rest of the natural world thrive in the same place. This Center, dedicated to understanding this rare place, is committed to helping people explore not a small collection, but one that lives and breathes across the entire expanse of the natural world. The Wild Center is science-based, and its experiences, exhibits and programs are designed to open new ways to look into the latest discoveries made by natural scientists. There may be no more important issue facing humankind than discovering better ways to thrive with the rest of the natural world, and there may be no better place to understand that effort than in the Adirondacks. The Center is the place to see and appreciate the natural side of that vital story.

This Saturday, August 24! ?? Bees, Botany and Beauty with Jody Johnson at 1pm ?? This Science Speaker Series talk will focus on the near-magical mutualism that occurs between the plant and animal kingdoms in the realm of pollination. The evolutionary communication between the bees and their food needs and the presentation of a plant's flowers to satisfy its needs to create offspring is intricate, subtle, complex, and fascinating. Looking closely at the design of flowers, already beautiful, will add depth and wonder at the structure, orientation, timing, and physical qualities of flowers as they entice bee visits. If you love unlocking nature's secrets, this talk is for you. Free for members or with paid admission https://hubs.ly/Q02LWd2P0

Buy the book at The Wild Supply Co. in person or online. Event Cost: Free for members or with paid admission Admission tickets can be purchased online: https://hubs.li/Q02JC5X10 Amy Godine is an author and historian who chronicles the intersection of Black Adirondack history and climate. Godine’s permanent exhibit, “Dreaming of Timbuctoo,” is located at John Brown Farms and tackles land reform, voting rights, and income distribution. At our recent Youth Climate Connections Retreat, we visited the exhibit and saw how these themes intertwined through Godine’s gaze. Godine’s work for human rights and environmental justice outlines how the climate crisis affects every population, especially those who have contributed the least to it and has affected the lives of Black Americans throughout history.
