“Strategic” and “Regulatory” might seem an odd pairing to many executives and entrepreneurs. Our The Washington Campus Executive/MBA “Business & Policy” and “Health Care Policy” participants leave D.C. with a very different – and much richer – perspective. This is in no small part due to the many contributions of Michael Fitzpatrick. We’re delighted to have honored his extraordinary contributions to TWC’s educational mission and programs.?It’s a powerful combination: Michael's private sector experience, currently as Partner at Brunswick Group and previously as Director of Strategy and Innovation at Google Global Affairs and Head of Regulatory Advocacy at GE, along with his public sector experience at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) for two different White Houses.?Our students leave D.C. understanding that “Strategic Regulatory Engagement and Advocacy” are essential components of corporate strategy.?C-suites and boards, from tech to manufacturing to services, increasingly must incorporate such perspectives into their strategic thinking and planning in order to survive and thrive going forward. Thanks again, Michael!

Our final The Washington Campus Executive MBA program before these epic 2024 elections featured a rich conversation at the National Press Club: “What Next? Forward with the Business of Politics and Policy.” Great insights and food for thought from former RNC Chair Michael Steele, VP Harris’ former Communications Director Ashley Etienne, and Rick Klein, DC Bureau Chief of ABC News. We also were honored to start the evening by recognizing some of our most outstanding faculty speakers for their exceptional contributions to TWC’s educational mission and programs: The Honorable Ann Marie Buerkle The Honorable Albert Wynn Peter Carson Lesley Fair Michael Fitzpatrick Dr. Douglas Holtz-Eakin Rick Klein and @James Hohmann. We're so fortunate to have such a fantastic team of speakers and supporters who go far above and beyond, contributing so much to the personal and professional development of E/MBAs from all our amazing partner schools – to help them become better leaders, in their companies and communities, and for the country as a whole. E/MBAs: Join us here in DC – our next TWC course info session is Thu @1pm! This Election Day, one thing is certain: Most of the polls are wrong. Our own Bruce Mehlman’s recent look at various issue polling (economy, immigration, etc.) shows up to an 18-point difference – on the same issue, for polls citing error margins of 3%.?Hmm…?Likewise, days before the election, Selzer’s poll surprised, showing Harris with a 3% lead over Trump – in Iowa – while a same-day Emerson poll showed Trump +10% in Iowa.?Our The Washington Campus E/MBA programs help make sense of all this and so much more for business leaders, simple lessons like: National popular polls don’t elect U.S. Presidents, a state-by-state Electoral College does.?And even at the state level, polls don’t vote: Actual voter turnout is the critical factor.?However the election goes, there will be big post-election challenges but also great opportunities, for business leaders to engage and make an impact – for the good of their careers and companies, their communities and the country as a whole. Join us for a TWC D.C. course info session this Thu., Nov. 7, at 1:00pm Eastern to find out how! The Texas McCombs School of Business Executive MBA program was the most recent of so many programs and participants that The Washington Campus hosts from The University of Texas at Austin here in D.C. every year. From Capitol Hill to The White House to the National Press Club, from getting a bird's eye view of D.C. at Vue to cruising the Potomac, it was an intensive executive residency experience focused on the ever-more critical intersection of business, public affairs, and public policy. Thanks to the Texas team Timothy Werner Joe Stephens Rebecca Gutierrez Sushmita Ramachandran for bringing another great, engaged group of Texas EMBAs to D.C. Likewise, thanks to all those who shared their rich experience and expertise, insights and perspectives, with the group: John Godfrey Emily Schmidt Douglas Holtz-Eakin Shana Teehan Jen Daulby Jonathan Hoganson Asad Ramzanali Crystal Patterson @James Hohmann David Castagnetti EMBAC American Action Forum Congressional Management Foundation #EMBA #EMBAinDC #MBAinDC

It was a busy but rich and rewarding week, ending in Boston with another great Graduate Business Curriculum Roundtable and PMBA/OMBA conference, after having helped start three The Washington Campus E/MBA programs back here in D.C. It was particularly rewarding to talk with all our member-partner schools' faculty and staff at the GBCR conference, even as we were hosting so many of their students' D.C. experiential residencies at the National Press Club, on Capitol Hill and at the Capitol Hill Club, in the U.S. Senate, at The White House, and much more. Our Time Out Market Boston reception/dinner was an especially rich gathering, bringing all this together with E/MBA faculty and staff in Boston and our/their students in D.C. from Texas McCombs School of Business Emory University - Goizueta Business School Indiana University - Kelley School of Business UCLA Anderson School of Management UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School ASU - W. Last night, students attending our October MBA sessions got to hear directly from Rick Klein about the role of media and social media in shaping politics and public policy. Coming off the campaign trail and executing a very successful presidential debate, we are grateful to Rick Klein for talking candidly to our students about this unprecedented campaign season and how it will shape our country moving forward.
