October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and many may not realize the impact of DV on women’s health. Women who survive domestic violence have 2x greater risk of developing many chronic illnesses including asthma, IBS, & diabetes. If you are a domestic violence survivor there are many resources you can reach out to for help. We highly recommend AWARE, Inc Mercer County Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency for all local women in need of direct support and DV resources. The Warrior in Her is here to provide any additional access needed to support, advocacy, & essential resources for women struggling with chronic illnesses. We know how commonplace domestic violence is and our community is here to support women who may be facing health conditions as a result of this. We acknowledge the significant negative impacts that domestic violence can make on one’s mental and physical health.
