Our storyboard process dissects not only the goals of the design, but the needs of the people occupying your space.     When educators have access to wellness programs, they can experience a number of amazing mind/body/soul benefits. But they need the right kinds of spaces to experience what matters. That is where the @educatorssupportcollabortive steps in. (hashtag #ESC) The hashtag #ESC is a fantastic organization whose mission is to activate Baltimoreans to thank and support our City’s Public School Educators. As founding members, we, along with many partners, have done this by engaging the design community to provide services (mostly pro-bono) to create "areas of respite", wellness rooms, or even just a nicer lounge space for teachers across the city. The spaces designed are outside of any sort of "school design standard" and are curated specifically for each schools population and culture.     A quiet and belated nod to our fifteen-year anniversary, (09.25.2024) a milestone marked by the quiet passing of time. Reflecting on the journey, it's crazy to me how my children have no recollection of me working elsewhere. Our first eleven years laid a solid foundation, but the recent years, in times of profound change, running a small business, has been particularly arduous at best and we know we aren't the only ones. From projects to people, from clients to colleagues, the rewarding experience of working in this industry is truly worth every moment and is an honor. On March 20th 2020, a sobering day for those in the interior office design profession, our worlds changed. All of our worlds changed. For our little corner of the industry, I foresaw a tough road ahead, yet held firm in my belief that we would overcome and emerge stronger within five years. Now, with just six months left before we reach that mark, I am confident in the path we've been walking (hiking?). Grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with exceptional colleagues and clients, our focus remains on creating impactful projects and innovative place strategies. In closing, as we navigate each day, project, and engagement, embracing both old and new connections, here are some key learnings and reminders that continue to guide us: ·????????Humility and grace are paramount. ·????????If you have something to say. Say it. ·????????Ask for help when you need it. ·????????Help others regardless. ·????????Happiness comes from solving problems. ·????????Shed toxic people. ·????????Say no. ·????????Set an agenda. ·????????If you make a mistake. Own it. Fix it. Apologize and Move On. ·????????There is value in suffering. ·????????Creatives “can’t draw”. But we can see. ·????????There is no right or one way. ·????????Trust your team. Inherently. All day. Every Day. ·????????Fail fast. Fail often. And do so “DARING GREATLY” ·????????Give. Receive. Give Again. ·????????Read. ·????????And FFS. Be a Badass. ...and this quote just ties it all together with authenticity and inspiration: “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.” ~Theodore Roosevelt Thank you to all who have supported us along the way!     Your logo isn't your brand. It's deeper. It's your reputation. I still hear this over and over from CEOs: "We just need a new brand to _____________" 1) Win upmarket 2) Improve retention 3) Attract great talent Etc etc etc. The list goes on and on. I've heard every answer in this "fill in the blanks" story. The problem? They say 'brand' but mean visual identity. The reality is this: A new visual identity won't fix your reputation overnight. This is also a common opinion I hear a lot about: A) Content Marketing 2) Organic Social Media "We need to churn out more blog content for leads" "We need to post more webinars on LinkedIn for leads" Reminder: Brand, content, and social all have 1 key thing in common: You need to play the long game to win.
