USTAAR University of Miami's Student Startup Accelerator is excited for its first annual Demo Day and Pitch Competition! USTAAR was enabled through a generous $5mn donation by a UM alum and founder of ABB Optical Group, Mr. Angel I. Alvarez and his family.?This pan-university program provides mentoring and direct capital investment in #student-led #startups at UM. Through a highly competitive process, the program invests up to $100,000 in student ideas. We have already selected our first cohort of 10 student teams that received an initial $10K capital, This is a diverse group of founders from across the University (60% Black or Hispanic, 50% women). The startups represent industries ranging from #medtech, #sports, #agriculture, #AI and #education. Our first Demo Day and Pitch Competition will be held on?September 26th between 3-6 pm on the Coral Gables campus. We are excited to get the teams to the next round of funding, mentoring and growth with potential seed funding awards of $100K.?We have a fantastic panel of judges, with mentors from The VMT group?https://www.thevmt.org/, The Miami Angels?https://lnkd.in/ejxWDxUS, and community joining?leaders, entrepreneurs and investors joining.
