Take a deep breath. How do you feel? Today, as we celebrate World Rivers Day, we're reminded of just how essential public lands and rivers are to our health and well-being. These waters inspire us with their beauty, connect us to each other, and help us to go with the "flow." Conservationist Mark Angelo once said, “Rivers are the arteries of our planet; they are lifelines in the truest sense.” That's why we are partnering with people in communities across the country to protect the lands and waters they value. The result? Cleaner air and water; healthier, more equitable communities; and a more resilient and livable environment for people everywhere. Great read in The New York Times exploring our work to transform schoolyards! We have worked with nearly 350 schoolyards in 23 states across the country to turn grim blacktop “playgrounds” into vibrant, verdant spaces that do double duty as neighborhood parks outside of school hours. These Community Schoolyards projects are improving the health, equity, and climate resilience of neighborhoods across the country and transforming the lives of students, families, teachers, and the whole community. Read more. https://lnkd.in/eVTQ_RYE Special thanks to Somini Sengupta for writing a great article. Huge kudos in-house to the dedication and persistence of Andy Orellana, Danielle Denk, Dale Watt, the TPL California team, Elizabeth Sell and the TPL Texas team for the support on this one.

When we conserve lands, we’re doing more than saving precious natural areas. Our new report shows the transformative role that protected natural spaces play in the face of climate change and we hope it serves as a call to action to ensure conservation advocates are at the forefront of climate action! https://lnkd.in/ejXgndFs

We’re on a mission to create, protect, and activate public spaces of historical and cultural significance to Black communities across the country. We had the opportunity to host an event to support our Black History and Culture (BHAC) initiative. The event, hosted by National Board Member and Chair of the Black History and Culture Council, Keith Weaver and Fawn Weaver, was designed to celebrate Black culture in shared outdoor spaces that elevate both the achievements and the enduring spirit of Black Americans. America's public lands—and our time spent exploring them—are essential to our health and happiness. In these spaces, we deepen our connection to nature and to each other. National Public Lands Day is an opportunity to reaffirm our love of and commitment to sustaining these places that sustain and inspire us. This month, you can double your impact. For a limited time, your donation will be MATCHED up to $100,000. That means any gift you make will go twice as far to create parks and protect public land. Donate today ?? https://lnkd.in/etd26yqj

We’re thrilled to be featured in The Washington Post for our work transforming schoolyards into cooler, greener spaces: https://wapo.st/3TrQs2p #CommunitySchoolyards are more than play spaces—they reduce heat risks, enhance student health, support learning, and provide essential park space for communities. As temperatures rise, our efforts to replace asphalt with trees, shade structures, and nature-rich play areas is more urgent than ever—and our work isn’t complete until every schoolyard offers these vital benefits.
