With the simple flip of a switch, the LMV 496 transitions from road to air, achieving liftoff in about 60 seconds. Each wheel houses a 96,000-rpm JetCat jet turbine, providing a combined thrust of 1,300 horsepower and approximately 10 minutes of flight time. While the prototype currently hovers around one meter off the ground, ongoing engineering efforts are focused on optimizing jet thrust balance. Safety is paramount, with each wheel equipped with parachutes for any in-flight contingencies. Additionally, the LMV 496 is street-legal, offering a range of about 60 miles per electric charge.
