It’s Bi+ Awareness Week ???? Bi+ Awareness Week is not just a time to recognize the unique experiences of the bisexual community; it's an opportunity to reduce stigma and foster understanding. May this week be a powerful reminder that love can be fluid, multifaceted, and transcend all labels. Bi+ folks often navigate a complex landscape of identity — facing invisibility within the LGBTQ+ community. This is why Bi+ Awareness Week is so important. Bisexuality deserves to be seen and celebrated! Being bi+ is never just a “phase” or any less valid than any other sexual orientation. To our bi+ community: we see you. You belong here as you are. Raise that flag proudly. Share your love for the bi+ community in the comments below ?? #BisexualAwarenessWeek #Bisexual #NotAPhase #TheTrevorProject

Visibility is lifesaving. In anticipation of tonight’s #EmmyAwards, we’re excited to highlight those LGBTQ+ artists forging representation by sharing their talents on and off screen. From Matt Bomer to Lily Gladstone to Bowen Yang and Hannah Einbinder, we couldn’t be more proud of those queer and trans actors breaking barriers in the entertainment industry. Why does this matter? Because 89% of LGBTQ+ young people reported that seeing LGBTQ+ representation in TV and movies makes them feel better about being LGBTQ+. Queer and trans narratives deserve to be uplifted, and storytelling is an accessible way to bring LGBTQ+ culture and livelihood to life. Join us in celebrating these Emmy nominees making history tonight in Hollywood ???? This Suicide Prevention Month, and every day, The Trevor Project is always here for you. We are here 24/7/365, on every holiday, free and secure. Call us at 1-866-488-7386, text START to 678-678, or visit trvr.org/get-help to speak to our counselors ??If you’re an LGBTQ+ adult who needs support, dial 988 and choose the LGBTQ option to speak free and confidentially with an affirming counselor 24/7. #EmmyAwards #LGBTQ #RepresentationMatters #Visibility #TheTrevorProject

This month let's come together and celebrate the heritage, resilience and contributions of the LGBTQ+ Latinx/Hispanic community by not just honoring present contributions of the LGBTQ+ Latinx/Hispanic community but also past trailblazers like: ??Sylvia Rivera, a fierce advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, founder of STAR (support for homeless LGBTQ+ youth) and a key figure in the stonewall riots ? ??Jose Julio Sarria, World War II Veteran, Iconic drag queen and the first openly gay man to run for public office in the U.S. The legacy left by past Latinx/Hispanic LGBTQ trailblazers is still evident in the present. Their courage to live authentically and their relentless fight for equality continues to inspire us today. To all LGBTQ+ Latinx/Hispanic young people: Your voices matter, your stories matter and your existence is a beautiful reminder of the rich cultural tapestry that is the intersectionality of the LGBTQ+ and Latinx/Hispanic community. You are part of a vibrant legacy that deserves to be celebrated. ?? Happy Latinx/Hispanic Heritage month! ???? #LatinxHispanicHeritageMonth #LGBTQ+ #LatinxLGBTQ+ #TrevorProject

Last night’s VMAs were a historic moment in pop culture for queer representation ?? Growing up as a closeted Black kid in South Texas, our CEO @Jaymes Black (they/she/he) didn’t see themselves represented in television and music. Now, the world (and culture) has shifted — for the better. In their latest op-ed for Paper Magazine, Jaymes unpacks how their upbringing influenced the joy that they experienced watching the VMAs in 2024. Because you can’t be who you can’t see, and now, visibility is breaking barriers. “I often wonder how my youth could have differed if I grew up watching Janelle Monáe or Lil Nas X. What impact could it have had on my young, confused, insecure self to see Black LGBTQ+ artists living out and proud? Now, in 2024, it brings me endless joy to see the new wave of LGBTQ+ artists openly thriving as their most authentic selves.” Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gFGNfWt4 #JaymesBlack #LGBTQ #VMAS #RepresentationMatters #TheTrevorProject

Mental healthcare is a human right — and far too many LGBTQ+ young people report not being able to access it. This month, our research team focused on mental healthcare access and use amongst LGBTQ+ young people, to forge a deeper understanding of the state of mental health care accessibility in America. Our findings remind us why our work providing 24/7 crisis support is so important. Because 75% of LGBTQ+ young people who used a lifeline or crisis services considered suicide in the last year. We know that many queer and trans youth experiencing emotional distress and suicidal thoughts often do not seek help; however, those who do seek help are less likely to attempt suicide. That’s why access to mental healthcare is lifesaving. Reaching out for support when you’re struggling can seem scary. Our research shows that reducing stigma around mental health is necessary to break the barriers that prevent LGBTQ+ young people from seeking help when they need it. There is never, ever shame in reaching out. You’re worth it. ?? Suicide is a hard word. Too often, we censor ourselves and walk on eggshells around the topic out of fear that talking about suicide will cause suicide — that’s a myth. Talking about suicide is lifesaving. This World Suicide Prevention Awareness Day, we want to encourage you to have candid conversations about mental health and suicide with the people you love. Here are some important things to keep in mind ?? ?? Talking about suicide is proven to help encourage safety. It reminds us that we are not alone in our experiences. Don’t be afraid to ask your friends what they’re feeling and if they are safe. ?? Folks who have experienced trauma are at an increased risk of experiencing suicidal ideation. Certain times of year or times of night may be harder. Check in on them. ??People consider suicide for many unique and individual reasons. They may feel alone, burdensome, or isolated. Show up for them — remind them that they’re not. ?? Tens of thousands of Americans are impacted by suicide and suicidal thoughts every year. Remain non-judgemental. Mental health isn’t scary. We’re all in this together. ??Suicide is considered a pubic health crisis in the United States — but it often isn’t treated like one. It’s never “too much” to reach out for help, or to ask a friend if they need help. ??You are an entire universe, and you mean the world to a whole lot of people, even if you can’t see it right now. Stick around. We’re here with you. #MentalHealth #SuicidePreventionAwarenessMonth #SuicidePrevention #LGBTQ #TheTrevorProject
