The Traveling Gnomes

The Traveling Gnomes offer inclusive, accessible, and sustainable travel experiences locally and globally for neurodivergent and disabled adventure-seekers. Our mission is to celebrate human differences, deepen connections, and encourage curiosity through inclusive exploration, challenging each identity we cross to unapologetically be themselves. We believe in living life authentically and unapologetically. We take a wholehearted approach to create space within our community and the communities we travel to, to celebrate differences, welcome new conversations, foster mutual respect, and cultivate a sense of belonging through exploration and adventure. We serve kids, teens, and adults with neurodiversities and disabilities ages 13 & up for extended day road trips and 16 & up for overnight travel. We strive to meet travelers and families where they are, identifying barriers, and forming true connections to reach a better understanding of how to mutually support one another prior to an adventure. Support looks different for each person and we hope that through transparent communication we can create an action plan that enriches the experience specific to the traveler and families’ needs. Through travel, we unknowingly and automatically work on real life skills in real life situations. Travelers will navigate new communities, practice flexibility, deepen relationships, enhance safety awareness, and strengthen self advocating. Each person is challenged to mindfully practice self-care, take risks in order to conquer fears, and grow in the most unexpected ways. We not only hope to enable travelers to grow, but to further generalize and master their independence which will cultivate more successful future access to their community, world, and overall full human experience.
