We create an urban environment that fosters a rich history, culture, legacy, & empowerment of transgender people.

关于我们

About Us Founded in 2017, The Transgender District is the first legally recognized transgender district of its kind worldwide. Our work prioritizes investing in the Black and Latinx community, with an emphasis in providing services that empower and create opportunities for Black and Latinx transgender women in the Tenderloin neighborhood. We are committed to creating the healing, economic empowerment, and cultural enrichment for transgender people in the Tenderloin - who have and continue to be plagued by social, racial, and structural violence, marginalization, disenfranchisement, and abject poverty, yet maintain a fiery resistance and unfaltering resilience. Our Mission and Vision The mission of The Transgender District is to create an urban environment that fosters the rich history, culture, legacy, and empowerment of transgender people and its deep roots in the southeastern Tenderloin neighborhood. Our core objectives encompass stabilizing and economically empowering the transgender community by fostering ownership of homes, businesses, historic and cultural cites, and providing safe community spaces.

  • Dear Community, As we reflect on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy this MLK Day, we are reminded of his unwavering vision for freedom, equality, and justice. His dream of liberation continues to resonate deeply, especially for those of us in the TGNC community who face unique challenges. Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream was a vision of unity; bringing together people of all backgrounds, regardless of skin color, religion, or socioeconomic status, to create a just and equitable society for all. Today, with the inauguration of a new presidency, we remain committed to holding leadership accountable to the promises of diversity, equity, and inclusion. This is a moment to recognize our power, honor our resilience, and work together toward a world where our voice is heard and every person is free to thrive. Let us move forward with boldness and hope, carrying Dr. King’s words in our hearts:? “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” In solidarity and strength, The Transgender District
