Founded in 2002 by the former senior vice president for community development at United Way of Greater Los Angeles in association with nine seasoned nonprofit executives with extensive experience in serving diverse communities, Third Sector Company, Inc., was created to “foster a continuity of leadership for the nonprofit sector” including charitable organizations, congregations, and professional and trade associations through the United States and Canada.     GRATEFUL. This morning I joined 47 fellow nonprofit executives for our first session of a six week certificate program from the Third Sector Company for Interim Nonprofit Executives & CEOS. This program is designed with purposeful and intentional curriculum to support nonprofit organizations through transition. Thank you to Attain Partners, Reshma Patel-Jackson and Kristi Phillips for supporting my professional development. ?? It goes without saying that our #nonprofit industry is fraught with challenges right now, not the least of which will be burnout and turnover.     Here I am, proudly holding my Interim Executive Academy certificate that I earned in February 2020 from Third Sector Company — a milestone that shaped my career in ways I couldn’t have imagined! Since then, I’ve had the honor of leading six organizations through leadership transitions, with 11 in total throughout my career. Stepping in as CEO, COO, and CDO, I’ve worked to provide stability, momentum, and vision during times of change. My tenure in these roles has ranged from four months to just over a year, and every single one of these critical missions has left a lasting impact—not just on my career but on my life in deeply personal ways. I become entrenched in the organization, forging strong connections with the team, their mission, and the communities they serve. Today, I’m privileged to serve as the Interim Executive Director at Kids in Focus, continuing my passion for guiding nonprofits and strengthening their systems, processes, and sustainability. This “pinch-me, is this real?!” journey is one I’m endlessly grateful for! What I have realized is that change in any industry and in any organization is inevitable, but strong leadership makes all the difference.
