关于我们
At Third Half Advisors, we are changing the future of aging in America. We are creating programs and a platform to deliver quality content and structure for post-career professionals who are driven to invigorate their lives and outlook, instead of retiring. Our plan, and our passion is to grow a vibrant community driven by small learning groups led by master coaches and professional mentors. Third Half Advisors - Changing the future of aging in America “Most professionals who are winding down their formal career have a strong desire to stay youthful and in some cases, relearn how to have some fun. For many individuals entering their Third Half, achieving these goals take some ideation and iteration. To help our community with this desire, we want to create an opportunity, through learning groups, for our members to have a “circle” of continuous improvement and youthful interaction (including intergenerational connectivity)” - Caroline Brecker- Co-founder, Third Half Advisors “ What we heard from our year of research with multiple focus groups was that our future members of the Third Half want to figure out how to manage their most important resources – time, creativity and imagination. We want to help them do this with tools that help them create a repeatable process of transformation and help them structure their time and a portfolio of activities to be truly generative and inspiring” - Campbell Gerrish , Co-founder, Third Half Advisors “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the thing you didn’t do than by the ones you did do, so throw off the bowlines, sail away from safe harbor, catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, Dream, Discover.” -Mark Twain: American author and humorist

The August issue of InsuranceNewsNet features the second of a three-part series which highlights my concept of purpose driven retirement planning. It emphasizes the importance of not only being financially secure but also having meaning and purpose in retirement. The article is titled “Retirement: Planning for the Third Half of Life” and spotlights Campbell Gerrish, cofounder of Third Half Advisors, based in New York. Campbell Gerrish is no stranger to me! Campbell and I were on opposite sides of the greatest rugby rivalry in New York City. Campbell played for old blue which was made up of Columbia University alumni and I played for the New York Athletic Club. Beyond that, we’re both veterans of the life insurance industry. Campbell started in the business in 1973 and I started in 1974. Campbell cofounded Winged Keel, a very high end and prestigious life insurance organization. Today, Campbell is the cofounder of Third Half Advisors. After spending a career of making sure that his clients were financially secure, he discovered that it was not enough. He saw that people need meaning and purpose in their retirement years. Rugby played a central role in naming the company. At the end of every game, players from each side often convened together for a “Third Half” where they celebrate together, establishing relationships and a sense of community. Even though the match was over, this “Third Half” was often the best part of the game! Campbell views retirement as the “Third Half of Life.” Even though a retiree’s life is changing, there’s still a lot of game to be played. The key is using this bonus time in ways that give meaning and purpose to retirement. Third Half Advisors offers programs and coaching to help participants form their vision for retirement and make a plan to thrive in the next chapter of their lives. The Virtual Milestone Program takes a small group through a six-hour exploration to rediscover their strengths and passions. The goal is to create a “Portfolio Life” with actionable next steps for the Third Half. I tried their program (see photo) and found it very informative! The second installment in this series was similar to last month's article about Gary Sirak’s book, “How to Retire and Not Die.” Like Campbell, Gary has seen a major gap that we can fill in people’s lives that goes beyond just money. We can help people live a meaningful and significant life in retirement, something that no robo-advisor can do. Check out this month’s article by Susan Rupe in Insurance News Net. Stay tuned for next month’s issue when I’ll be featured along with my new presentation, “Purpose Driven Retirement Planning.”
