  • "There is a growing realization in Europe that something needs to be done. The momentum is coming." - B?rje Ekholm, CEO of Ericsson Last week, we had the honor of hosting CEO of Ericsson B?rje Ekholm at the Swedish Residence for our Executive Insight Series, an initiative in partnership with the Consulate General of Sweden in New York. Ekholm shared his perspective on Europe’s position in the global tech race, stressing the need for strategic investments in technology and the reduction of regulatory barriers to sustain global competitiveness. "Today, Europe is trying to regulate for the unknown. When you regulate for the unknown, you make it virtually impossible for companies to operate." However, Ekholm also pointed to what he believes is a recent shift within the EU political system, "The EU is starting to recognize the need to foster investment and reduce regulatory burdens. That is a positive step." The discussion also covered the broader implications of the new U.S. administration, challenges in scaling European innovation and accessing capital, and the critical role of digital infrastructure and AI in shaping our future. We are proud that this important conversation was featured in both Sweden’s Wall Street Journal (Dagens industri) and Forbes Read the full articles here. Emanuel Sidea, Kristen Edgreen Kaufman https://lnkd.in/dgD3ZNqM https://lnkd.in/dEdUA2ss A heartfelt thank you to B?rje Ekholm for leading this insightful dialogue and to the Consulate General of Sweden in New York — Erik Ullenhag, Youn Hee Pernling Fr?din, and Helmer Broberg —for fantastic collaboration, as always. And thank you to all the participants who enriched the discussion. Barbara Wennerholm

  • ??? Happy Holidays from SACCNY ???? We are truly grateful for this year. 2024 has been a year of change for SACCNY - exciting, nostalgic, and filled with progress as we continue to grow and evolve. One of the highlights was our Annual Lucia Luncheon at the Harvard Club. Over 160 guests joined us for a traditional Swedish Julbord, a beautiful St. Lucia procession, creating a perfect opportunity to network and forge meaningful connections. As part of the Lucia Luncheon, we arranged a raffle in collaboration with some of the best Swedish brands in NYC. A big thank you to our generous raffle prize sponsors: Pontus Frithiof, H?stens Beds, Reijmyre , Svenskt Tenn, ByR?str?m, Fj?llr?ven, STAUD, BonBon, Orrefors Kosta Boda AB, THE HONEY OF SWEDEN, and Happy Socks. Your contributions truly elevated the event, and we encourage everyone to explore your amazing products! The evening also featured an exclusive auction of a miniature NYC Legend sculpture by Alexander Klingspor. Inspired by the century-old urban legend of alligators living in New York’s sewers, this artwork pays homage to the city’s resilience, adaptability, and unyielding spirit. A heartfelt thank you to Alexander Klingspor for this generous contribution. We would also like to express our appreciation to our dedicated members, whose support and shared commitment to SACCNY’s mission make everything we do possible. Together, we help Swedish companies establish, grow, and thrive in the U.S. market, fostering stronger business ties and creating new opportunities across borders. Thank you Agaton S. for the great photos! ?? Wishing you all a joyful holiday season and a fantastic start to 2025. We look forward to creating even more opportunities to connect, collaborate, and grow together in the year ahead. Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year! ???? Barbara Wennerholm
